Beth and I spend a lot of time making music for obscure projects or often just for fun and we don't post them anywhere.  I mean the fun is in the making and it's work to try to get people to pay one iota of attention.  Not whining, just try to get me to pay 1/2 of an iota.  Here are some members of that wooly and unruly menagerie, from Beth's song about almost dying from hypothermia in the frigid waters of New Hampshire to Steve singing a duet with Vanessa Williams and his incredible ability to not look at her butt...and the stories to go along with them.

Long time friend and musical phenom Mark Turnbull joins Beth and Steve to talk about their shared history, all the way back to Steve and Mark meeting on the basketball court at Newport Harbor High School in 1964.  Lots of great memories (ditching school to ride the roller coaster at the Pike in Long Beach), and wonderful recordings of songs from Mark including some that he wrote for the Band Honk.  Fun with a certified musical treasure.

After Steve took over the show for 2 weeks to dedicate music to his brother, Beth gets her revenge.  She leafed through her 45s collection and grabbed some stuff that she loved back in the 60s and early 70s. If you needed proof that she is let's say...unusual, here is solid confirmation.  At the same time you might find her quite attractive as Steve does.  Well, not exactly like Steve does.

Following last week's show dedicated to my brother that featured the music that was infused into our DNA as we grew up in a house full of music, we continue the journey.  This episode focuses more on the more obscure, shall I say "hipper" stuff that we were privileged to be immersed in.  It is mostly jazz with a bit of folk to round things out.  Pretty danged fun and I find it fascinating but of course, I would.

This episode features my (Steve's) tribute to my brother Mike.  We grew up in a wonderful time and place with fabulous parents...a thing at the time I thought to be "normal" but now realize is somewhat unusual.  Mike, (who is six years older than me) and I grew up in a home surrounded by music and creativity.  Our father was gifted beatnick jazz piano player on weekends and a buttoned up FBI agent during the week. Lots of music parties and constant jazz coming off the turntable infused us with a musical sensiblilty that continues to this today. Songs and some stories of our upbringing make up what turns out to be episode one of this journey.

The Wood Brothers are by far our very favorite band from the last 20 years.  If you are disappointed with the shallowness and and self consicous over production of music this could redeem music for you.  Highly recommended!

54 years together and feeling incredibly lucky to have found each other.  Just having fun on our show as we usually do, bathing in the glory of gratitude and playing music we love.

At the height of the early Covid scare Jack was nearing the end of his life with lung cancer.  His long lost son came onto the scene and convinced a lot of us that Jack's unrecorded songs about his favorite jazz legends needed to be recorded.  Everyone said "Damn the virus" and pulled together to get these timeless songs laid down for posterity.  Well here it is 5 years later and posterity ain't enough...people need to hear this incredible stuff.  Here 'tis
