God does not tempt us, but the prayer for deliverance acknowledges that none of us are above falling to temptation, and leans on God’s daily power available to us by the Holy Spirit.

As we continue to reflect on the Lord’s Prayer this week, Jesus teaches about forgiveness – for us and for others. But what really happens in the act of forgiveness? Is it possible to forgive if the other party doesn’t want forgiveness? Are we condoning hurtful behavior when we forgive? Forgiveness is an essential part of the life of a Christ follower.

We see that when we pray for daily bread we are choosing to trust Jesus as the one who provides for us. And when we pray, we are to ask people for help and help others, be grateful for what we have, and admit our needs to God.

Jesus was the one who personalized our relationship with God by teaching us to pray to God as Father. How amazing that we can speak to and hear from our Heavenly Father!

Many people struggle with feeling inadequate about their prayer life. The disciples must have felt that too, because as they saw Jesus pray in a way that really mattered, they said, “Lord, teach us to pray.” Can we learn with them?

Every Sunday we celebrate that Jesus has risen from the grave, conquering death and securing our salvation through his sacrifice and triumph. And just as the first ones to encounter the empty tomb did, we get to choose how we will respond.

The Sermon on the Mount ends with a warning and an invitation – a warning that some religious people won’t be saved, and an invitation to experience real, eternal, worthwhile living through a friendship with Jesus. Do you know Jesus, and does Jesus know you?

Our heavenly Father gives generously, and we are to copy God's generosity by treating others better than expected. Can we be more like our Father in how we treat others?
