Today we come to the parting of the Red Sea. It is one of the most exciting stories in all of the Bible and the central salvation story of the Old Testament. And as such, it has much to teach us about our salvation as well. So let’s enter into the story to explore three challenging truths.

In the Passover, God is giving the Israelites the freedom and deliverance he promised. In doing so, he shows us how a provided substitute can facilitate both the mercy we need, and the justice we deserve. It is a night for them to remember forever. And a night for us too.

The 10 plagues against Egypt can be confusing and hard to understand. What is God doing here with these strange signs and wonders? Let’s answer the question together by looking at 5 things God is doing here.

Following God’s Word in obedience sometimes makes life harder and opens the door for discouragement. Like Moses, we need to be reminded of the promises of God and His mighty hand. Let’s journey from discouragement to gospel promises.

This Sunday we look at the CALLING, the PROVISION and SENDING of Moses in Exodus 3-4. From the burning bush, back to his Egyptian home, Moses clearly needs God’s presence to do the work he has been called to. So do we, so there is much for us here. Let’s look at the CALLING at the Bush, the PROVISION of God, and SENDING to the ministry.

This morning we jump into a new series on “The Life of Moses” through Exodus. We will first answer WHY Exodus matters for us today and then unpack chapters 1 and 2 by being awed at God’s providence.

So far in our Disciple Making Church series we have answered the question, WHY make disciples, seeing it is God’s grand, cosmic plan for all of history. We have answered WHAT is a disciple? It is RELATIONAL, RATIONAL, MISSIONAL, and EMOTIONAL apprentice. And we talked about HOW disciples are made and through what means by looking at “4 P’s.” Today we answer WHO makes disciples and WHERE do we make them?

We all know Jesus told us to “go and make disciples.” But why? Jesus gives us a bigger answer than simply, “Because I told you to.” We make disciples because God’s great purpose for history is to gather to himself a people from every nation who will know him, worship him, and enjoy him forever. That gives our mission both urgency and significance. So this morning, we’ll look at three answers to the question: Why make disciples?
