Obituary: On June 11, 2018, Paula Kenny Jacobs Adams went home to live with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for all eternity. She was born on September 18, 1935 in Houston, Texas to Katherine M. Jacobs Nelms and Charles Edwin Jacobs. C.E. Jacobs died while they were living in Alice, Texas and later her mother married Albert Lewellyn Nelms III, who then moved the family to Kingsville. Paula went to the University of Texas where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree, majoring in English literature, and throughout life found pleasure in quoting from memory all her favorite poems. At Texas, she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority. She was born a tap dancer and danced her way through Kingsville High School and the University where she started out with the tap group “The Texanna” and later on had great fun dancing and singing in The Junior League Charity Balls. After college she worked for Humble Oil. In 1958, she married Alexander DeGraaf Adams who loved her and met her every need. They had two sons whom she cherished.
At a Billy Graham Crusade in the 1960’s, Paula recommitted her life to Jesus Christ. From then on, her focus was to proclaim and exalt Him. “She had no greater joy than this to hear of her children and grandchildren walking in the truth.” 3 John 4. She said that her daughters-in-law and grandchildren were precious gifts of God’s grace. She spent hours with them at their ranch in Blanco making up plays, singing, and dancing. She had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh. She also loved to play bridge. Paula has been an active member of Bethel Church since 1970. Her gift was that of “encouragement,” as no one left her presence without feeling uplifted and affirmed. She was a prayer warrior. Throughout her early life, she was involved in volunteer work; and she and her husband were involved in many ministries. She was a member of The Junior League of Houston.
Paula leaves behind her best friend and prayer partner, her dear faithful husband Alexander Adams, her sons: Samuel and Matthew, and daughters-in-law Julie and Kendall, and her grandchildren Lacy, Ben, Emma, Andrew, Walker and the twins Sophie and Megan, and Luke. She was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved sister Judy Jacobs Mahony, Norman Adams, precious cousins Jacqueline Gittinger Fetzer, and her loving cousin Patrick Bond. She leaves behind her brothers-in-law and wives, Maurice and Barbara Adams, William and Cathey Mahony, and dear nieces and nephews.
