Bethel Church of Houston

How great is it that we don't come together on Easter Morning expecting insight from me? Or any other human! On the other hand, the authors of the Bible were "moved by the Holy Spirit" and "spoke from God". Come, let's reason together (Is. 1:18) and remember to be careful how you listen (Luke 8:18)!

Why is it called "Good" Friday?

Palm Sunday

Jacob moves to Bethel

A classic Old Testament commentary regarding today's text: "We may well wonder if any man who had proper discernment ever drew a text from this chapter." Yet II Timothy 3 compels us - all of God's Word is inspired and profitable. Come, let's reason together (Is. 1:18) and remember to be careful how you listen (Luke 8:18)!

Can you fill a job description that calls for "ordinary people"? I know I can... and so could Jacob! God uses ordinary people, sometimes in extraordinary ways. Come, let's reason together (Is. 1:18) and remember to be careful how you listen (Luke 8:18)!

Legitimate debates about "Lordship Salvation" vs "Free Grace" aside, there are undeniably turning-point events in our walk with God that change us in significant, even revolutionary ways. Jacob experiences one of those in our text. Come, let's reason together (Is. 1:18) and remember to be careful how you listen (Luke 8:18)!
