What does it look like to fully trust God through obedience? As we continue through Exodus, Moses begins his journey back to Egypt, responding to God’s call to lead Israel out of slavery. Yet this passage reminds us that following God requires more than a willingness to begin; it calls for obedience in every area of our lives. We may be tempted to obey selectively, following God where it feels comfortable while ignoring the areas that challenge us. But as disciples of Jesus, we’re invited to take God’s Word seriously, trusting that His ways are good even when they’re difficult to understand. When we take steps of obedience, God can work through us to bring blessing to others and accomplish His purposes.

What if the very weaknesses we try to hide are the places where God wants to demonstrate his power? As we continue through Exodus, Moses struggles to believe God can use him to deliver Israel, convinced his own limitations make him unfit for the task. But God reminds Moses that the mission doesn’t depend on his abilities, but on God’s strength working through him. We see this same pattern in Jesus, who came not through worldly power and strength, but through humility and sacrifice to save us. As we follow Jesus, we’re invited to stop relying on our own strength and instead bring our weaknesses to him, trusting that his power is made perfect in our weakness.

What happens when God interrupts the ordinary? As we continue through Exodus, we see Moses going about his daily work when God reveals Himself through a burning bush. Moses stops, draws near, and responds, “Here I am.” God then invites Moses to join Him in His work and calls him to go to Pharaoh and lead His people out of Egypt.
God is present in our ordinary days, and He invites us to slow down, turn around, and see His presence. What might God be inviting you to notice, and where might He be calling you to follow Him this week?

What if the restlessness we feel isn’t something to simply get rid of, but an invitation to something more? As we continue through Exodus, we see Moses wrestling with a deep sense of not belonging and responding in ways that don’t go as planned. Yet God uses even Moses’ restlessness to move him toward his purposes. Our restlessness can remind us that something is not as it should be and invite us to prayerfully move toward what is missing, look for opportunities to bring God’s kingdom into it, and find meaning in God’s plan rather than simply trying to escape the hardship. What if the places where we feel restless are actually opportunities to join God in making things right?

What does God do with our story? As we continue through Exodus, we see how God uses ordinary people, their courage, and their faith to accomplish his purposes. Moses’ story is shaped by people who were willing to stand firm and say yes to God, even when doing so came at a cost. And as we look at Moses, we’re ultimately pointed to Jesus, the true and ultimate Deliverer. God doesn’t just work through the stories of people in Scripture. He is writing a story through our lives too, using our past, our present, and our experiences to draw others toward Jesus and his kingdom.
