Elijah experienced disappointment

‎God sent help
‎God guided Elijah
‎God spoke softly
‎God corrected Elijah
Questions…
Do you feel pressed in by the things of life?
‎Are you over whelmed?
‎is the future unknown?
The answer to all of these questions is the same… Jesus.

There are many things we can put our faith in
Our faith is not in God, not ourselves
Five Essential Elements of our Faith
Solid Foundations – 1 Peter 2:4-7, Luke 6:48, Psalm 71:3 – We find this in God, in His word, and in prayer
A Sure Hope in the Father – Hebrews 11:1
Faith pleases God – Hebrews 11:6
Faith sees ahead to the Homeland – Hebrews 11:15,16, Ephesians 2:4-6
And Ongoing Relationship with God, Like Enoch – Gen. 5:22,24 –
God enjoyed being with Enoch
In this communion with God we join the Heavenly worship
Some Practical Suggestions:
Turn off talk radio and listen to the Bible
Consider your music… feed yourself with edifying music that has no hint of evil
Ask for forgiveness
Pray for others
Practice stillness before God

Other references: Matthew 10:32, Romans 8:17, Luke 12:42 – 46
Our life here affects our eternal destiny
Those that choose to serve Him here will continue to serve Him there
We WILL give an account for how we have served
This morning God is the voluntary King over His voluntary servants; But He will at the end be King over all as every knee bows before Him
We need to have the vision that Jesus has; His interests come first; after all, He’s got our back!
We benefit from the advance of the kingdom, because we are co-heirs with Christ
Jesus wants faithfulness; We need a strong sense of stewardship
The King is coming and I am going to give an account
Some people will not start if they are not guaranteed success
Two Concerns:
How we build (I Corinthians 3:11)
The Law of Sowing and Reaping (II Corinthians 9:6)
Salvation is not the only big decision we must make… what will we do with what we are given?
The King is coming… and His reward is with Him!

Who are we and what are we doing here?
I belong to the King and I’m here to do the Father’s business
God is working on a huge story
His business becomes our business
We have made the decision that we’d rather serve Jesus, than serve ourselves
God’s primary purpose for saving you: for His praise to the glory of His name
What is the Father’s Business?
That the praise would flow
That the world would know
That the Church would grow
The further we get from Christ’s example of dying for His brothers, the further we get from the Biblical model of the Church
If all you do in life is to plug yourself into your Church – love it, pray for it, serve it – that is not a wasted life
God’s business is everywhere

It matters what’s in our vessels.
Serving God is a Spiritual exercise.
What was the dif between Cane and Abel’s offering? One was accepted, the other wasn’t.
Cane was rejected maybe cause something was wrong on the inside.
Our first concern is does God approve of this. Don’t worry about people around you, worry about God.
Hebrews 12:28
Gods grace affects how we talk and act and live life.
Grace is only a gift of God.
We need love and humility in service to God.
We have to have Godly motives in our service to others. Rich philanthropists often give lots and sometimes with good motives but they don’t really give till it hurts. We are called to give all to God.
We need to leave behind a flavor of God whenever we serve.
Whatever we do there is a spiritual and visible effect.
2 Corinthians 4:2-3 – Paul says that he took care that there was nothing in his vessel that would adulterate his message about Christ.
The biggest hindrance to our Christian witness is when we have something in our lives that covers our lives.
Whatever we do for the king music be done in the attitude of 2 Corinthians 4:7 KJV
[7] But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.
The power of Christ comes through the life of submission to a God. Spiritual life springs from spiritual life. Just like the law of biogenesis
We all have treasure in our vessels. They can figure out where our hearts are.
We need love in our service. It can do so much to pull people closer to God.

Life is not meant to entertain. It is for shaping and teaching.
We should be like clay and God is the potter.
God is willing to crush and reshape us through his insistent mercy.
God doesn’t care about the outside of the “vessel”
God looks for devotion and willingness to do his work.
If we are we willing to be used and cleansed, we can be useful vessels.

God is asking us for a God-first relationship.
The disease of self determination infects our culture.
“Christians” today try to gain status in both kingdoms.
We must chose. We can’t serve both kingdoms.
The decision has eternal consequences.

This morning we are talking about Easter.
Moses was called upon to go into Egypt and take the Israelites out. Then there were then plagues. The last and most important one was the last where God killed all of the firstborns
Luke 22:7 the Communion, life giving blood from Jesus
They were ready for the Passover. A special one for Jesus, cause this was the last one He’d be at till He returns for His people
The kingdom of Christ is like leaven, grows and works it’s way through the world.
A new day was dawning as they celebrated this Passover
Israel was under the bondage of Rome just like they had been under the bondage of Egypt years before
There was a lot of drama that lead up to the Egyptians letting go of Israel
Exodus 11 the last plague where God destroys the first born
Exodus 12 talks of how the blood on the door posts can save the firstborn
Hebrews 10 the law was a shadow of things to come.
Now with the blood of Jesus covering our sins we can be forgiven … our sins aren’t just covered
The most important part of the new covenant is that we can have a relationship with God.
Romans 7:18 there was a desire in the Israelites to do right but they couldn’t do it perfectly
After the last supper we have the perfect sacrifice and then the Divine Comforter
Hebrews 10:22-23 it says that we should draw near, hold fast the profession of our faith.
