The Bible is filled with sad scenarios that writers record for us, such as Psalms, Job, Lamentations and many others. As Christians its easy to ignore these parts of scripture and swap them out for the victorious living texts that pump us up in some way or other. This one sided diet is doesn't reflect life as we experience it. Sadness and despair is a common life experience even for those who are in Christ. What can we learn from this?

It can be easy to be forgetful. We get so focused on today’s problems and tomorrows fears, that we forget yesterday’s victories. When we forget our stories, we lose our imagination for tomorrow. These stories are our taonga. They remind us that the threads of history have been set aflame by a powerful God.
