The church is a gathered assembly of Jesus that has the keys of Jesus’ kingdom, the promise of Jesus’ guidance, and the power of Jesus’ presence. (Matthew 18:15–20)

Contending for Christ must flow from love for Christ. Putting these in the right order will result in extravagant eternal blessings. Getting these out of order will have devastating consequences for our souls and for our church. (Revelation 2:1–7)

By his death, Jesus gathers his sheep to himself by name, gives them abundant life, and guides them as the Good Shepherd. (John 10:7–15)

The elders are meant to shepherd the blood-bought flock of God among them through the afflictions of this life as they march toward final glory together. 1 Peter 5:1–4

People: Obey your leaders because they are working for the everlasting good of your souls and they will receive an everlasting judgment for it.

Leaders: Be a joyful shepherd and not a groaning shepherd because that will not benefit your people...
