Jeff Probst turns 65 this November, making him the oldest active host in reality TV. We look at his 26-year run — from Rock n' Roll Jeopardy to landing the Survivor job over Phil Keoghan — map out when he's likely to step away, and break down who could realistically replace him. From returning players with on-camera experience (Rob Cesternino, Rick Devens, Kim Spradlin) to franchise icons like Parvati and Tony, we rank the contenders and talk about what the show needs from its next era.Support the show

We're back to close out the most exhaustive breakdown of Survivor twists ever attempted. Last episode covered the first 64 — idols, advantages, and casting gimmicks. This time, Xavier tackles the remaining 65: all 27 premerge twists, all 12 elimination formats, and every structural change to the game since Borneo.
From tribe swaps and mutinies to DIY challenges and the auction, we sort the twists worth bringing back from the ones that should stay buried (looking at you, Do or Die). We dig into cast size, day count, tiebreakers — rocks vs. fire vs. past votes — and whether the shift to forced firemaking actually helps big threats win. Plus: loved ones visits, fire tokens, the Sanctuary, and a final verdict on Survivor 50's four new twists.
We wrap with a top 5 twists we want to see return in the Open Era, and 5 we hope never resurface — and land on the real lesson from 129 twists: we don't actually hate twists, we hate when they go badly for our favorite players.

Survivor's Open Era is here, and every advantage, idol, and twist from 50 seasons is officially in play. In part one of this two-part deep dive, we break down the first 64 of 129 twists and advantages ever used on Survivor, covering islands, advantages, idols, and casting/tribe division twists. Which trinkets deserve a second life, which need a rework, and which should stay buried forever? We're grading Exile Island, Redemption Island, Ghost Island, Island of the Idols, the Edge of Extinction, every vote-altering advantage from Extra Vote to the Inheritance Advantage, all 14 idol variants including the Tyler Perry idol and the Boomerang idol, and every tribe division concept from Blood vs. Water to Heroes vs. Villains. Part two drops in two weeks with elimination twists, structural changes, and premerge twists to close out the full 129-twist draft.

Survivor has seen some dominant tribes like Koror, Moto, and Tandang, but what about the ones that completely fell apart? In this episode, Xavier breaks down every disaster tribe in Survivor history, defined as any starting tribe that won 40% or fewer of the season's pre-swap immunity challenges. After cataloguing all 19 disaster tribes across 50 seasons, the focus turns to a troubling trend: while 40% of pre-new era seasons produced a disaster tribe, that number jumped to 70% in Seasons 41 through 50. Xavier digs into the data, including immunity records, first reward challenge results, and days spent without flint, to figure out why new era tribes are collapsing at nearly double the rate of their predecessors. From the obvious culprits like lost supplies and the punishing 26-day format to the structural differences of three tribes of six versus two larger tribes, this episode is a comprehensive autopsy of Survivor's most miserable losing streaks and a prescription for how the show can fix it heading into the Open era.

The Traitors has the cast, the castle, and the chaos — so why is its game design fundamentally broken? In this episode, host Xavier Fisher breaks down exactly where the show falls apart: recruitment loopholes, traitor-on-traitor crime, a prize pot too small to matter, and missions that don't actually mean anything. Then, Xavier rebuilds the game from scratch with a redesign that fixes the show's biggest flaws — before locking in his picks for a 23-player All-Stars cast pulled from all four seasons.
