There have been quite a few reports of food poisoning on a grand scale recently - the most notable being on cruise ships where hundreds of people have been affected.

With Christmas just around the corner you would image prawns left in the sun too long are the biggest culprits for making you sick.

However, out of four million cases of food poisoning in Australia each year, over a third are linked to raw or lightly-cooked eggs.

Spokesperson for the Food Safety Information Council Lydia Buchtmann joined Ed on Better Living to share some great advice on how to avoid food poisoning this festive season.

Christmas is a great time to rest, relax and enjoy the company of family and friends. The day tends to involve lots of foods, gifts and also the sounds of plenty of bon bons popping and cracking.
