Wow, that’s a powerful revelation from Pastor Jay! Maybe the reason you aren’t maturing in your walk with Jesus is because you’ve been relying on worldly wisdom? Maybe it’s time for you to turn away from worldly wisdom and turn toward the wisdom of God. And what would that look like? Well, listening to broadcasts like Better Than Life with Pastor Jay is a great start! Turning to the Word of God is a great way to grow in the wisdom and knowledge of God.

With the advancement of AI and other technologies, it’s easy to think that humanity may eventually have the potential to solve all of our problems. As the so-called “wisdom of the world” grows, people will trust in themselves above anything else. Today, Pastor Jay reminds us to leave the wisdom of the world behind because it’s going to pass away. The wisdom that followers of Jesus should be chasing after is the wisdom of God.

The last time you were with us, Pastor Jay began explaining how God uses the foolish things of the world to advance His kingdom. This goes against everything we understand in our world. Our world puts forth the smartest, the most powerful, the absolute best. God chooses to use the weakest among us so that He will receive all the honor and glory. If He did things the way the world does it, we’d all think it was because of our skill and effort. You’ll learn today that God will not share His glory with anyone.

Sometimes folks with the most powerful intellects have a hard time believing the Gospel. It doesn’t make sense. Why would a god give his one and only son to die in the place of each person in order to pay for sins? This was the issue in Corinth. Pastor Jay will remind us that the wisdom of God is directly connected to the Gospel message. It’s a message of grace and mercy. It’s a message of love and acceptance. But, it’s a message that is firmly rooted in the death and resurrection of Jesus.

Diverse but united. Does that describe your local church? We are reminded today that God wants us to be different but completely one in Him. Diversity doesn’t just mean ethnicity. It also means that you may see things differently politically or even have different interpretations of the Bible. While there are numerous absolute truths in the Bible that we MUST contend for, God does give us a lot of room to enjoy diversity on non-Gospel issues. In the end, the goal is complete unity in Christ.

Wow, those are strong words from Pastor Jay! Have you ever thought about that? The internet is FULL of great Bible teachers and churches. Sometimes, we can find ourselves drawn to specific Bible teachers and maybe even planting your flag solely in their camp. As Pastor Jay just shared, this is a distortion of the Gospel. The Gospel is specifically a message of unity found only in the person of Jesus Christ, not the latest fad Bible teacher you found on YouTube.

Do those words describe you? If a group of your closest friends and family members were to be asked, “Is this person’s life characterized by the truths of Jesus?” Would they be able to answer yes? Of course, no one expects any of us to be perfect. But, is the overall trajectory of your life that of the holiness of Christ that was purchased for you at the cross? Today, you’ll learn from Pastor Jay that just like the Corinthians, you CAN pursue a life in Christ that brings Him glory and honor.

Today, Pastor Jay begins a brand new study in the book of 1 Corinthians. If you’ve ever studied this book before, you know that this is a letter of correction. Paul needed to correct the church in Corinth for getting off the path. Today, as you listen, I encourage you to consider ways where YOU might be off the path of God’s best for your life. Are there ways that you are falling short of God’s best for you? God is ready and willing to forgive you as you confess and repent.
