As the round of 16 closes out this week we have a number of matches that still feature the spot to advance in the balance. With the most intriguing matchup of them all in Real Madrid and Liverpool being close to decided we still have Porto looking to even the score against Inter only trailing by one goal. While the score is tied with Leipzig it’s easy to think Leipzig will be pinned back in their own half for much of the 2nd leg. Napoli is comfortably leading Frankfurt 2-0 and will look to see the matchup out and move on doing so on their home soil in Italy. We will also see what happens when Liverpool throws the kitchen sink at Real Madrid in an effort to replicate their 1st half-performance to try and score quickly and bring their chances back to life.

Matchday 24 will start the same way Matchday 23 did with a tie atop the standings between Bayern and Dortmund as the race for the Bundesliga title continues. Things kick off Friday with Bochum attempting to escape the four-way tie at the bottom for last-place relegation when they play Koln. Bayern will take on Augsburg as they attempt to stay atop the standings while Dortmund will travel to Schalke in what could be an under-the-radar tough game as Schalke are unbeaten in their last six. Frankfurt will continue their chase for a top-four spot as they take on Stuttgart, and Leipzig will look to rebound from their loss to Dortmund as they take on Monchengladbach. Freiburg, Leverkusen, and Union all play Sunday three days after their Europa League games on Thursday.

As we head into Matchday 27 of the Premier League there are plenty of storylines around the league. Can Arsenal hold on to 1st place relying on late comebacks? Is Liverpool finally rounding into form and ready to challenge for a top 4 spot? Will Manchester United bounce back? As Matchday 25 has come and passed we finally saw league leaders Napoli stumble falling to Lazio. The fight for a top-four Champions League position continues to heat up with positions 2-5 only three points apart. The matchday kicks off with Inter traveling to Spezia Friday. Napoli will face off against Atalanta in the game of the week. Juventus continue their attempt to climb back up the league table taking on Sampdoria. Roma will take on Sassuolo in what sets up to be a pretty competitive game. Verona will take on Monza with the intent of climbing out of the bottom three. Fiorentina continues to accumulate points and will look to climb up the table against Cremonese.

We now have the final 16 set for the Europa League with some big names still remaining. Juventus will take on Freiburg while winning the Europa League could possibly be their only chance to play in Europe next season. Manchester United advanced against Barcelona last round and will take on Real Betis. Arsenal will attempt to juggle their run at the Premier League with this European competition. Familiar Europa participant Sevilla will take on Fenerbahce from the Turkish Super League. Last year’s Europa Conference League winners Roma will take on Real Sociedad with both sides fighting for a Champions League spot in their domestic leagues. Feyenoord will also attempt to juggle the Europa League as they take on Shakhtar Donetsk while currently holding 1st place in the Eredivisie in the Netherlands.

UEFA Champions League resumes this week with many intriguing 2nd leg matchups. Benfica enters their home fixture against Club Brugge with the strongest possibility to advance. They were brilliant in the reverse fixture. Anything outside of them moving on to the next round would be a shock result. Chelsea heads home to take on Dortmund in a matchup that could take extra time to decide with only one goal separating the two sides. Bayern Munich will take on PSG in Germany in a game with many storylines surrounding it including Neymar & Hakimi both missing from PSG. Tottenham will take on Milan in England and while they are ahead on aggregate, the question has to be asked of whether they missed their chances at home, will come back to haunt them.

As Real Sociedad plays Cadiz in the opening game of La Liga Matchday 24, they'll be looking to atone for their 1-0 loss to Valencia.
