Between the Stripes

What do our school bus drivers find on their buses? How much does diesel fuel cost? And just how much do they love the kids they drive every day? 🚌👀

In honor of Bus Driver Appreciation Week, our Between the Stripes crew is going behind the wheel to learn more about the people who get us to school safely!

Student interviewers Cora and Anna Leigh hit our bus drivers with questions dreamed up by our student crew. Then hosts Tyler, Kennedy, and Justice react to the interviews and share their thoughts on what they discovered. From some seriously gross things left behind on buses (yes, we're talking about food!) to the surprising cost of keeping those big yellow buses running, this episode is full of fun facts, laughs, and appreciation for our amazing bus drivers.

Join us as we celebrate the people who do so much more than drive a bus. They care for our kids, help keep our school community moving, and make a difference every single day. ❤️

Happy Bus Driver Appreciation Week!

Welcome to the very first episode of Between the Stripes, a podcast created as part of Roar Nation Student Media at Atkinson Elementary in Newnan, Georgia!

In this introductory episode, our student hosts sit down with Media Specialist Mrs. Jessica Allen to talk about what Between the Stripes is all about. Why create a podcast when our school already has announcements? What kinds of stories do kids want to hear? What happens when students get to be the reporters, interviewers, researchers, writers, and storytellers?

Meet some of our inaugural Roar Nation crew members, Ella, Eli, Magnolia, and Paislee, as they help us kick off this new adventure and imagine what stories we can discover around our school and community.

We're excited to take you behind the scenes, ask questions, meet interesting people, explore books and ideas, and tell the stories you might not hear anywhere else.

This is just the beginning. Welcome to Between the Stripes! 🐯🎙️
