Bevin and Maria casually discuss the delightfully successful event held on Sunday, June 27th at the Marriott Residence Inn in The Bronx. Audience members were pleased and surprised about the newly-developed area in which the hotel is located. Free parking was provided and they were able to enjoy the flower garden environment on the patio, where the show took place.
The sound outside the hotel was especially acoustically friendly. Nothing got too loud, yet the actors and singers were heard clearly, as the audience was close up. They interacted enthusiastically with our group in that unique intimate setting. They also danced spiritedly-- in particular-- to the Caribbean sounds of originals--MONTSERRAT and TORTOLA, as well as the Gospel-influenced PREACHER by Horace Silver.
This was only a preview of NEW JAZZ CITY: the musical (part 2). We look to present the complete show, replete with costumes, props, lighting, etc. at the brand new BRONX YMCA. Please check our future podcasts and updates on BxRCTheatre.org for specific dates and times.
