Welcome to "Beyond Hiawatha – The Miracle Lives On" - the official podcast of Hiawatha Youth Camp and a celebration of what the Lord has done, and continues to do through this unique and lasting ministry.
In this powerful and deeply personal episode of Beyond Hiawatha, host Bill Hobson sits down with Pastor Leo Robinson, leader of Good Church in Flint, Michigan, to explore a journey of faith, fear, calling, and the life-changing impact of camp ministry on young people from one of America's toughest communities.
Leo's connection to Hiawatha began with a simple invitation — an invitation he accepted mostly out of curiosity, never having been to Michigan's Upper Peninsula before. That first trip brought unexpected anxiety, including a terrifying drive over the Mackinac Bridge, but it also marked the beginning of a relationship that would shape his family, his ministry, and the lives of hundreds of Flint teenagers.
His own children "grew up on Hiawatha grounds," and the friendships formed between his family and camp staff have become lifelong connections. This episode is a moving testament to what happens when the Church steps into broken places with compassion, courage, and Christ-centered purpose.
It's a reminder that nothing is wasted when we invest in young people — and that a single week at camp can spark a lifetime of hope.
