  • 63: Radical Love in Practical Ways

As believers, we have the incredible privilege to carry the hope of Jesus in us out into the dark world around us. Not because of anything we’ve done, but because Jesus radically loved us, came to earth, and died on a cross for the sins of the world. His extravagant love, grace and mercy is what the world desperately needs! So out of what we have received, how do we radically love others in practical ways? How do we become a noticer? Join us for part two of our conversation with Lex Smith, as we discuss generosity and looking for opportunities to bless our neighbors this Christmas! Plus, Lex shares some of her holiday favorites including favorite holiday movies, songs, recipes, traditions and more!

      • 61: Grief and the Holidays

Everyone experiences loss; unfortunately, it is part of life this side of heaven. Loss of any kind can cause great pain and can also be an open invitation to lose our hope in Jesus. Whether you are grieving the death of a loved one, a miscarriage, infertility, divorce, relocation, job loss, or even disappointment, coping with feelings of grief can be especially difficult during the holidays. Which is why in this episode, we sit down with Adina Brown to talk about navigating grief during the holiday season. As the Grief Ministry Director at Beltway Park Church, Adina shares part of her own journey of walking through dark seasons of grief. She also offers very practical advice and shares some of the tools that have helped her, and countless others walk through grief as well. Whether you are grieving today, or you love someone who is, God is faithful to heal the crushed in spirit.

      • 60: Do it Different, Be the Buffalo

As human beings, we all desire to do great things. We desire success, despise failure, quit too early, and often give into external pressures and voices of comparison. Additionally, the expectations we put on ourselves to have it all or experience instant or early success, can be brutal. Is there a way to do it different? To fail forward? To be successful without loosing what matters most? In this episode, we sit down with Shane Robertson, an Abilene businessman named in Forbes’ list of Top Financial Security Professionals in the State of Texas to talk about success and failure, faith and identity, family and business and the opportunities we have to bring heaven to earth.

      • 58: Faith in Politics

Today we sit down with city council member, Lynn Beard, to discuss faith and politics. As children of God, we have been given authority to influence our culture in the realm of government for the sake of the Kingdom. But what about separation of church and state? Should faith influence politics? How do we love and honor people we morally disagree with, refrain from casting judgment, and still stand for truth? Moreover, how do we as believers navigate disagreement with other fellow believers on controversial issues? How we disagree matters!
