This is a very special episode here, I had the chance to interview Darryl Drumgold Sr. former member of Boston based R&B group The Untouchables. His group was the seed for another group that came out of Boston and changed the face of music forever, you know them as New Edition. We talk about how The Untouchables formed, gentrification, growing up in Boston during the busing era of the 70's, Boston talent show scene, Brooke Payne and his rehearsals, New Edition and New Kids On The Block rise, their impact on music and so much more. This is an interview you don't wanna miss!!!!
For this episode I had the pleasure of interviewing none other than Frankie J!!! So sit back, relax, and enjoy this interview!!!!!!
For this episode I had the pleasure of interview former A&R executive at Columbia/Atlantic Records, On air personality for 107.5 WBLS, DJ and all around good guy Kevin Woodley. We discuss how he got into radio and got mentored by the late great Frankie Crocker, his entry into the music industry, and being at the forefront of the biggest acts on Columbia during the 80's/90's. From Surface, Full Force, NKOTB, Mariah Carey, Kriss Kross, etc he saw it all. We also discuss the changes within the music industry with technology and how labels have fared with this new age that we are living in. It is an insightful interview, so sit back, relax, and enjoy!!!!
On this episode I have the pleasure of interviewing lead singer for 90's UK R&B/Pop group MN8 KG. This is a rarity because he rarely gives any interviews since the band took an indefinite hiatus after the release of their sophomore album Freaky back in 1996. This interview is no holds barred as we discuss the origins of MN8, their rise to fame, the climb in the journey as being the UK's first successful R&B group, Take That, E-17, Boyzone and the landscape of UK Pop, U.S. R&B influence on UK urban acts, racism, Black Lives Matter, their encounter with a pre fame Spice Girls and so much more. It was quite refreshing to hear his point of view on a lot of things and trust me... He holds nothing back!!!! So sit back, relax, and enjoy this rare interview with a member of a group that paved the way for every UK urban group that followed their path(Even bands like 5ive and countless others took MN8's formula and made it into pop success).
