Chiene uses her own story to create and carry out solutions for the issues many of our young lady student-athletes face today, and offers her own company Grow Our Game as one of the many ways she is working within and for the inner-city community. The trio dig deep and address today’s issues of Covid-19, the Black Lives Matter Movement, Virtual Learning & Fitness, Black on Black crime, Policing the community, and even distractions like Will, Jada, and the idea of a relationship or an entanglement. The topic of top athletes playing for HBCU’s even crosses the table. Though we typically discuss a whole lot of issues on Beyond the Journal, this is an episode full of solutions and “get it done” talk. Nothing but power coming at you through the speakers as we go Beyond the Journal with Chiene Joy Jones! Tune in!

Fred Quartlebaum, Kansas Jayhawks Director of Basketball Operations, visits the NYC studio via Skype. His positive energy radiates through the screen and his words come to life right there on the set! The trio cover the challenges of remaining positive in the year 2020; how the children may be impacted; building relationships and communities —even now…and Coach Q had answers that gave our hosts chills. He shares his personal experience and serves more as a role model than an example in the way he expresses gratitude & positivity, learns, listens and experiences his way through the journey we call life. And of course you already know we talk Kansas Basketball! The only negative thing about this show was that it wasn’t long enough. On behalf of the crew here at Beyond the Journal, it was a pleasure to have Coach Q, and we offer this episode to our 2020 warriors! One Love!

Trump, Biden, and Obama are all mentioned as Erin and Lawrence attempt to identify a leader of the movement and the leader of the American people. E & L also encourage listeners to get out and vote! Erin and Lawrence take the gloves off and get back into playoff mode with their discussions on this episode. The talk of investigations involving NCAA powerhouses and Beyond the Journal favorites—and rivals—Kansas University’s and Duke University’s basketball teams send Erin into a direction that Lawrence has a tough time pulling her back from. The two also discuss the NBA’s latest player moves and some of the government’s latest moves—namely HR 6666 the infamous, Testing, Reaching, And Contacting Everyone (TRACE) Act, as well as everyone’s stimulus checks. Sadly Erin and Lawrence tackle both the emotions and the law of the Ahmed Aubrey case in Georgia, and it is clear that there is much more to come on Beyond the Journal! The duo allude to topics they already have in the works, and this Corona Version of the Erin and Lawrence Show is already proving to be a playoff run for the history books!
