This is a translated version of a stupendous love lyric To mount the palm frond horse from Tamil literature. It is the passionate declaration of a lover about his betrayal by his lady love. He elaborates that his forced isolation is no better than being ridiculed while riding the palm frond horse the practice of publicizing the betrayal of female lovers, a practice of Tamils of the Sangam time . 

To ride the palm frond horse is explained :

To ride the palm frond horse, Madal Eruthal, was an act of Tamils of the Sangam time. During the Sangam period, the male sweetheart needs to disclose his double-crossing by his female darling. He makes a pony made of palm leaves and draws or paints his darling's image on a piece of cloth and drapes it as a banner for the pony and wears Crown Flower shouting out to people in general about the barbarous female who deceived him.
