Kevin is joined by Piggy Phatness (aka Sergio Barrera) to talk about the resurgent sport of Roller Derby. Yes, you heard that right. The Alamo City is big into Roller Derby!

Piggy Phatness, is the larger than life alter-ego of Sergio Barrera, a corporate trainer who has found a calling as an announcer for the always exciting bouts of the Alamo City Rollergirls. Founded in 2005, the Alamo City Rollergirls is the local Women’s Flat Track Derby Association-affiliated league for San Antonio. Announcing has taken Sergio around the nation and now around the world. It’s also changed the lives of his family. As Sergio explains, Roller Derby is an inclusive sport open to players of all shapes and sizes, including kids from ages 7 to 17, who form the local River City Riot league.  In this episode you’ll learn more about Sergio, Piggy Phatness (and where that nickname came from), the Alamo City Rollergirls and the sport that is fast becoming a family favorite of San Antonians. The 2017 Alamo City Rollergirls season is just getting started, so now’s the time to head out for a bout and say hello to Piggy Phatness in person.
