In this candid podcast, I provide updates on refining my coffee bag packaging and plans to sell sample bags on Amazon soon. I discuss tasting notes from some current coffee roasts and my eagerness to revisit a Honduras bean with a finer roast profile I think will better bring out its flavor. I admit to being busy juggling parenting duties in my wife’s absence which led to letting some cleaning slide. This failure to accomplish my routine to-do list surprised me with its liberating effect. I urge listeners not to get so caught up in the constructed perfectionism of coffee rituals that we lose sight of simply enjoying the drink.Through anecdotes of overwhelmed times, I gently challenge the illusion that strictly adhering to specifics like optimal temperature, grind size, brew time etc. defines a ruined or perfect cup. I suggest instead finding some core methods that work to efficiently produce a decent coffee amid life’s hustle without fussing over marginal gains.
