Shannon grew up in Southern California as the fifth of six children in a faithful Mormon family. After high school, she attended Brigham Young University, where she earned her undergraduate degree in psychology.
After completing her studies, she served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Honduras, a challenging and transformative experience. She later returned to BYU to earn dual master’s degrees in Counseling and School Psychology.
For the past 12 years, Shannon has been a dedicated real estate agent in Northern Virginia, helping clients find their dream homes. Her love for antiquing, historic architecture, and the stories of the past make Virginia the ideal place for her and her family. She is the proud parent of five amazing kids.
As an active member of her local LDS ward, Shannon is deeply committed to fostering inclusivity and belonging. She regularly advocates for “big tent Mormonism,” striving to ensure that individuals on the margins feel welcomed and valued within the Church community.
You can connect with Shannon here: [email protected] and "Shannon Lamb Homes" on Facebook and Instagram.

There are lots of experiences going on right now. Emotions are surface for many across the United States.
The thing to remember about emotions is that they aren’t necessarily good or bad. It’s more significant and helpful to focus on how we feel them (or do we allow ourselves to feel them) and what words we say/don’t say and actions we take/don’t take from those emotions.
Emotions can bring joy and elation or very real pain. Physical pain and emotional pain can often accompany one another. It’s only problematic when a person is not taught to feel, metabolize, or transform the energy from these emotions (& accompanying physical/emotional pain) in healthy, productive, meaningful ways.
Take a few minutes and get some ideas on how to cultivate emotional intelligence in your sphere of influence.

Meet Valerie Hamaker, therapist, educator, podcaster, learner, lover of truth, healing, laugher, movement, and people.
Valerie hosts faith expansion support groups, one of which I joined 2 years ago, which provide a place for openness and dialogue for those interested in developing spiritual and psychological agency.
She addresses challenging and important topics within the LDS faith tradition that many people struggle with but are too afraid to talk about. She does this through firmly but respectfully questioning anything that seems to cause shame, suffering, and struggle for individuals, couples and families.

Also, she has a group starting now -first of November with limited spaces available. Go here for more info: valeriehamaker.com/latter-day-struggles/support-groups/

Emmaly is a nonprofit director in the agricultural nonprofit sector, specializing in urban agriculture and local food system initiatives in Iowa. Emmaly has been married for 21 years, and together with her partner, they are raising four incredible children, whose ages span from elementary school to college.
Her personal journey of faith took a transformative turn as her daughters entered their teenage years. Watching them grow and approach adulthood led Emmaly to reevaluate her own spiritual experience and reimagine her connection to faith outside of traditional church structures. Emmaly finds her deepest spiritual connection in nature, particularly among trees and the open, rolling fields she works to protect and nurture.
Grounded and pragmatic, Emmaly prefers workboots over flats, embodying her hands-on, system-based approach to both life and leadership. Through writing, she weaves her experiences with the land, family, and spirituality together.

To choose the road less traveled takes emotional resilience. I liken self-differentiation to the road less traveled, one we have a hard time taking because we are tribal and communal by human nature.
It can feel uncomfortable to share thoughts, ideas, decisions, etc. that are DIFFERENT than the group. The risk of losing your feeling of fitting in or belonging can be too high.
We may tie our identity and/or the point we’re at in our journey (faith or otherwise) to those closest to us. When we see them at different points than us, it can feel uncomfortable. Perhaps it emphasizes that we are in different places or it might increase the “alone” factor, or worse we make it mean that we no longer belong.
Listen to this episode to learn more about this important part of human development, including our faith development.

Part of the Dialogue Journal, the Dialogue Podcast Network was founded by Eugene England, a Mormon writer, teacher and scholar. “My faith encourages my curiosity and awe,” Gene wrote in the very first issue of the journal. “It thrusts me out into relationship with all creation” and “encourages me to enter into dialogue.” My hope is that this podcast is an extension of his vision.
