Emotionally charged responses are usually the incorrect ones. This is something we must all keep in mind. Specifically, because it seems that most of the things we currently face are emotionally charged. Just remember: emotion drives bias. Appeal to accuracy and reason. That will help you see a bigger picture and aid in planning an appropriate response.
