Publisher's Summary:
Imagine a beautiful, productive garden that doesn't need hours of watering. In most regions this is achievable, and we will explain how.
In this book we share our successful, proven methods for productive organic gardening while saving valuable time and water. We have developed these techniques ourselves in our own food gardens, and we have successfully taught them to many gardeners. During droughts in recent years, our clients continued to garden productively, some bringing in record harvests of kumara (sweet potatoes), pumpkins, and tomatoes.
There are other benefits to being waterwise: You'll have fewer weeds, stronger plants, and a more vibrant garden ecology.
Here's just some of what you'll learn in this book:

Surviving With Less Water
This is one great little book! Clare Jackson has put together a brilliant collection of common sense ideas for those of us trying to survive with limited water supplies. This year, setting up a new garden, with only rain water collected from my roof for watering has presented more than a few problems. Next year will be different! I won't be spending most of my gardening time running around with a watering can trying to revive parched plants. Fortunately, the soil here is a great loam type, so, with some serious mulching I will be aiming to keep the moisture where it is needed. Somehow I will try to plant the vegetable garden in a less structured way as Clare suggests by moving plants closer and increasing the compost levels. If you haven't got the luxury of a town water supply, hoses, sprinklers and outside taps, check out this super handy book. This is a survival book for people looking for productive vegetable gardens and other healthy plantings. Simple ideas for great results.
