As both creators and educators, Seth Thomas Sutton and Lucas Ostrowski discuss the use of film as a tool for creative expression and activism. In the season 6 premiere of BG Ideas, Dr. Amy Acton and Jim Watkins walk listeners through what it was like as public health officials at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. Dr. Acton served as director of the Ohio Department of Health from 2019 to 2020, leading the state’s initial response to the COVID-19 pandemic. They discuss the role of the Luckey Community Garden and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on food insecurity. Their project was supported by the Center for Undergraduate Research and Scholarship at BGSU. 

The Center for Undergraduate Research and Scholarship provides funding for undergraduate students to pursue research, scholarly, or creative projects with a faculty mentor in their chosen discipline.
