Facebook has seen such a positive impact from a new tool it’s been testing, that it’s expanding it nationally by the end of the year.

Local Alerts enables local governments and first responders to communicate urgent information when it directly affects people in their community or requires them to take action, such as road closures, blackouts or natural disasters.

· Over the past year, information officers from over 350 local governments have used local alerts in a huge range of everyday emergencies -and some crises - including flash flood warnings, mandatory evacuations, 911 outages, missing people reports, water main breaks, active shooters, road closures, winter storms, trash pickup schedule changes, extreme temperature warnings, bomb threats, and more.

· When authorities mark posts as local alerts, Facebook greatly amplifies their reach so that people living in an affected community are much more likely to see them. Facebook sends notifications to people living in the affected area, and also shows that information on Today In, a new place on the site for local news, community information, and conversations between neighbors. You’ll also see the local alert indicator next to that post in News Feed.

In this satellite interview, Jimmy O’Keefe will discuss Local Alerts, how they work and the impact they are already having in local communities. He’ll talk about how Facebook is working to make these alerts both smarter, allowing partners to specify whether they’re sending a missing person alert, a public safety alert, or a weather alert, for example and more targeted, by giving their partners the ability to select the affected counties, cities, towns, or neighborhoods that should receive notifications.

Rick Hill, Author and 45 year cancer recovery patient without chemo or radiation, received his B.S.

Degree in Theology from Pillsbury Bible College in Owatonna, MN in 1973. He did graduate degree work

at Cornerstone University in Grand Rapids, Michigan for three more years.

In 1974, Hill was diagnosed at the Rochester, NY Mayo Clinic with stage 3, Embryonal Cell Carcinoma

that began as testicular cancer but quickly spread to his lymphatic system and was systemic. He was

scheduled for chemotherapy and was encouraged to bring his family into Rochester to say his goodbyes

since the chemotherapist offered little hope. Rick learned about the Oasis of Hope Hospital in Tijuana from

a pastor friend and decided not to have the chemo but leave right away for Oasis.

After a full recovery using Detox and without any chemo or radiation, he became a talk-show host on

WSBR radio in Boca Raton, was a satire columnist for the Boca Raton News, and began working on an

ozone air purifier. Rick was granted a patent for co-inventing an air purifier used to reduce mold, bacteria,

and virus in homes and offices. He sold that patent to the Shaklee Corporation and was appointed a Senior

VP of Sales after personally selling $50M at meetings in one year. After many years of speaking and

writing, he retired to San Diego near his grandkids. While there he visited Oasis and began attending Dr.

Contreras’ lectures. He volunteered to do nutritional cooking shows for the patients and conduct a New

Patient Orientation.

A National Guard facility in Pennsylvania refused to allow a Trail Life USA scouting troop to tour their facility because of the group’s religious affiliation.

The Fort Indiantown Gap National Guard facility regularly hosts tours for Boy Scout troops and other organizations, but Trail Life boys were told they could not participate because they belonged to a Christian scouting organization.

The idea that Christian boys would be banned strictly because of their religious beliefs is not only ludicrous, but it’s also illegal.

“Fort Indiantown Gap’s denial of access to the base facilities, which are open to other civic, fraternal, and youth organizations and for youth activities, constitutes viewpoint discrimination,” First Liberty Institute and Independence Law Center wrote in a letter to the National Gu

President Trump will move Wednesday to cancel the family “loophole” that’s allowed illegal-immigrant parents and children to pour into the U.S., proposing new rules that would replace the 2015 Flores Settlement court order that created a de facto catch-and-release policy for the families.

According to details provided by an administration official, migrant families could be held in detention together while their cases are heard by immigration judges. That would supersede the 20-day limit imposed by the federal judge in Flores.

If the families can be held in detention, they can be deported, security experts say, and once people in Central America see an increase in deportations, they’ll stop coming.

“Today the administration is closing one of the legal loopholes that has allowed human traffickers and smugglers to exploit our vulnerabilities at the southern border,” a senior official told The Washington Times, previewing the announcement.
