Our world tries to convince us that the "good life" is comfortable and that we should always seek pleasure above everything else. If we don't seek pleasure, the world says we risk missing out.  However, St. Therese of Liseaux serves as a model for the joy that can be found in answering God's will instead of our own. Sunday, Sept. 30 homily by Fr. Our world is a competitive place; if you have a talent, there is someone out there who will try to to one up it. These types of comeptitiveness and comparison are not always healthy things. Our faith can be defined by our response to Christ's question: "Who do you say that I am?" Do we recognize the saving power and divinity of Jesus, accepting him as our Lord and savior?

We are not defined by wordly things like social status, but rather, by who we are in Jesus Christ. This weekend's readings reflect this truth, and remind us that our God is a personal, loving Father. We are precious to Him.
