Why is death certain?

The 27th verse of chapter 2 of Bhagavad Gita for happiness begins with Lord Krishna telling Arjuna that anyone who takes birth has to die. And post this, their next birth is also certain — unless they attain mortality. He tells Arjuna that this is inevitable and duties should not be compromised on because of this. To ensure peace and law, the battle is sometimes a compulsion.
