In the 33rd verse of chapter 2 of Bhagavad Gita for happiness, Lord Krishna tells Arjuna that if you don't honour the duties of a Kshatriya, then you will lose your reputation because you have not abided to the required norms. Arjuna had a reputation of gaining fame having defeated Shiva and many other demigods. So he should not back out from this battle now.
