沉没成本是阻碍人们跟上范式转移的重大障碍。沉没成本的体现在于：虚幻的自尊心让人逃避学习，不断削足适履来拖延时间，迟迟不愿放弃而损失越来越大。

对世界的观察高度实事求是，放弃自我麻醉的一厢情愿，路才可越走越宽。一个例子是寻求帮助要诉诸对方利益，而非仁慈或者感激。第二个例子是，科技公司，创造价值和捕捉价值是两个不同的机制。   To be successful in our dealings with the outside world, one needs to "see clearly into that which is ", and be ready to adjust mental models to fit reality. One example is when seeking help, need to appeal to one's interest, not mercy or gratitude. Second example is those who create immense value may be different from who capture it.

识别范式转移的第三个障碍是无边无际的媒体操纵，断章取义，春秋笔法，做空股票，扰乱视听。拥有自己的独立原始的信息基础设施至关重要。介绍了若干媒体操纵传播各类股票的负面新闻的例子。  Media manipulation is rampant in reporting related to stock investment. Without information directly from the source, one is extremely vulnerable to media manipulation, and unable to recognize hitech-enabled paradigm shift.

硅谷王川：为什么要坚决拒绝大部分线下活动：人数少，耗时，无法重复使用，匹配度低，商业密度度 Offline activities such as meetups, conferences, etc. are mostly a waste of time, one need to focus on write/publish/produce things online that can be reused.

为什么人们很难抓住范式转移的机会，原因错综复杂。第一，范式转移需要时间的培育。第二，老范式和新范式没有可比性。  Why people can not recognize and adapt to paradigm shift. First, it takes a long time for paradigm shift to happen. Second, incommensurability between the old and new paradigm.
