All too often Catholics will look to find things like typology or symbolism in the Bible, especially the Old Testament, to bring credence to their teachings!

One such example is the claim of Catholic Apologists that Isaiah 22:22 proves that Peter was meant to be the first Pope and have sole authority of the church on earth.

All Scripture Is God-Breathed NOT All Teachings Like The Catholic Traditions!

Catholics will be quick to point out certain verses that have the word "tradition" to then make those verses mean that Catholic Traditions today are a source of Truth equal to the God-Breathed Scripture.

Catholicism has made the claim that Purgatory is in the Bible but when such passages are examined in context we see nothing of the kind.

Catholics are taught that "it is a holy and a wholesome thought to pray for the dead that they may be loosed from their sins”

In addition to Purgatory being nowhere in the Bible, there are also other issues with the Catholic teaching that must be examined.

What happens to all the people that are supposedly in this mythical place or condition when Jesus comes and their purging is not complete?

And what about those who never entered purgatory to be purged when Jesus comes back, how do they get accepted into Heaven?

If the trials “of fire” didn't perfect you while you lived in your body what makes you think fire can burn away impurities afterward?

Here's everything you need to know about how Purgatory in NOT biblical!

In Catholicism there awaits for those who die in a state of grace a time period where they must be purified by suffering for unrepentant venial sins. This is a temporary punishment to prepare them so they can enter heavens glory. (According to the Catechism of the Catholic Church, paragraph 1030)

Incredible as it seems, what the redemptive death of Christ on the cross couldn't accomplish, the repetition of the mass, prayers, rosaries, penance, and good works can.

CCC 1471 - “An indulgence is partial or plenary according as it removes either part or all of the temporal punishment due to sin.” The faithful can gain indulgences for themselves or apply them to the dead.

CCC 1479 - “Since the faithful departed now being purified are also members of the same communion of saints, one way we can help them is to obtain indulgences for them, so that the temporal punishments due for their sins may be remitted.”

In this episode we are going to look at most all the passages that Catholic apologists use to defend their false doctrine of Purgatory!

There is both the dangerous temptation to place overwhelming emphasis on what men have said or taught as there is temptation to put dangerous emphasis on our own experiences and convictions.

The emphasis for any doctrine of scripture and for any spiritual truth should always be on the Bible as the sole source of authority.

Scripture, alone is said to be "God-breathed" and by it alone believers are complete & equipped for- every good work" (2 Timothy 3:16-17).
