Abram Gets Back to Bethel
Scripture: Genesis 13
- Abram left God's will out of fear — and went to Egypt
- But if you're breathing, you can get back right with God!
- Abram returns to the altar at Bethel and worships the Lord
- Lot is saved but never grows — and strife separates them
Main points:
- Back in Canaan (Genesis 13:1) — getting back to the will of God
- What is sin? Missing the mark — doing anything other than God's will
- Back to Bethel and the altar (Genesis 13:3-4) — worship as a priority
- Lot: saved but never built an altar of his own (2 Peter 2:7-8)
- Too much stuff, not enough room — substance separates (Genesis 13:5-7)
- Beware of covetousness (Luke 12:13-15)
- Lot chooses Sodom — the bright lights over God's will (Genesis 13:10-13)
- God's promises to Abram (Genesis 13:14-18)
