JANUARY 31 - Whispers and Warnings

Sometimes life feels like a tug-of-war between two voices. One is loud and tempting, promising excitement and freedom — but it never mentions the cost. The other speaks hope in whispers, sometimes hard to hear when you're overwhelmed, confused, or doubting God's presence. In Proverbs 9, “Folly” is portrayed as loud and flashy but leading straight to destruction.

Psalm 13 shows us David crying out, feeling forgotten by God — a feeling you might know too well. And yet, in Matthew 28, Jesus reminds us that He is always with us and has all authority — meaning nothing is out of His control. Even when the world’s noise drowns out God’s voice, He’s still speaking. And His way leads to life.

THINK ABOUT IT

1. What voices are you listening to? Are there influences in your life — media, people, thoughts — that are loud but empty?

2. God can handle your questions: David poured out his raw emotions in Psalm 13. You don’t have to pretend with God. Bring your doubts, your frustration, and your confusion to Him — He wants your honesty.

3. Jesus sends and stays: The Great Commission in Matthew 28 isn’t just about mission — it’s about presence. When you follow Jesus, He doesn’t send you out alone. He promises to be with you always.

BOTTOM LINE

Even when life is noisy, confusing, or feels like God is distant, Jesus is still near — guiding you with truth and giving you strength to choose the path that leads to life.

PRAYER

Heavenly Father, sometimes it’s hard to tell what’s right when everything around me is loud and distracting. Help me recognize the voice of wisdom and follow Your lead. Thank You that I can come to You with all my thoughts — even the messy ones — and that You never leave me, even when I can’t feel You. Give me courage to live out Your truth and trust Your presence every step of the way. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

JANUARY 30 - Forsaken but Not Forgotten

Ever felt abandoned by God? Maybe during a tough exam, a broken friendship, or when life just feels too heavy. You're not alone—literally. In Psalm 22, David cries out from a place of deep pain, and centuries later, Jesus echoes those same words from the cross in Matthew 27.

Jesus—the Son of God—knows what it's like to feel totally alone. But even in that moment of forsakenness, He was fulfilling a purpose bigger than the pain. And that's something we can hold onto too.

THINK ABOUT IT

1. God Understands Your Pain: Jesus quoting Psalm 22 on the cross shows that He fully entered our human experience. Have you ever cried out like David or Jesus? Know that God isn’t offended by your honesty—He welcomes it.

2. It’s Okay to Ask “Why?”: Feeling confused or hurt doesn’t mean you’re weak in faith. Even Jesus asked why. The important thing is to bring those questions to God, not hide them.

3. Pain with a Purpose: The suffering in Matthew 27 wasn’t the end—it led to the resurrection. What hard thing might God be using in your life to shape you or bring hope to others?

BOTTOM LINE

God may feel distant in your hardest moments, but He is never absent. Jesus knows your pain and promises that you are never alone.

Heavenly Father, thank You for understanding what it feels like to be alone and in pain. When life gets hard and I don’t understand what You’re doing, help me remember that You never leave me. Teach me to trust You even in the silence. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

JANUARY 29 - Betrayed But Not Broken

Jesus knew what was coming. He saw betrayal in Judas’s kiss, fear in Peter’s eyes, and weakness in His closest friends who couldn’t stay awake to pray. Still, He chose to press on. In Matthew 26, we watch Jesus move through some of His darkest moments—not with panic, but with purpose. Even when people failed Him, He stayed faithful.

For young people today, this chapter speaks volumes. Whether it's pressure from friends, fear of rejection, or feeling let down by those we trust, we’re reminded that Jesus understands. He lived it. And He shows us how to respond—with prayer, with honesty, and with unwavering commitment to God’s will.

THINK ABOUT IT

1. Jesus understands your pain: Have you ever felt betrayed or let down by someone close? Jesus knows that pain deeply. He invites you to bring that hurt to Him.

2. Your spirit is willing: Jesus didn’t shame the disciples for being weak—He encouraged them to pray. When you feel like you’re falling short, turn to Him instead of giving up.

3. Failure isn’t the end: Peter denied Jesus, yet Jesus still had a plan for him. Your worst moment doesn't cancel God's purpose for your life.

Even when people fail us or we fail ourselves, Jesus remains faithful—and invites us to rise again with Him.

Heavenly Father, thank You for showing us, through Jesus, how to stay strong even when life gets tough. Help me to stay close to You when I feel weak, afraid, or hurt by others. Remind me that You understand and never give up on me. Give me courage to follow You, even when it’s hard. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

JANUARY 28 - Wisdom at the Door

We live in a world full of choices—and not all of them are easy. Some seem harmless at first, but they lead us away from God’s wisdom. Whether it’s what we watch, who we follow online, or how we treat others, we’re constantly choosing between following what’s popular or following what’s wise.

In Proverbs 9, wisdom is pictured as a woman inviting us to a feast—a life of understanding and truth. But Psalm 12 reminds us that the world often lifts up lies, and Matthew 25 warns us to be ready for Jesus at any moment. The big question is: are we living wisely or just going with the flow?

1. What are you feeding on? Wisdom invites us to a feast, but so does foolishness (read all of Proverbs 9 for both invitations). What are you putting into your heart and mind every day—truth or junk?

2. Who’s shaping your worldview? Psalm 12 talks about how lies and flattery rule in a broken world. Are you letting the world’s standards shape you, or are you standing on what God says?

3. Are you ready? Jesus tells the story of the ten virgins in Matthew 25 to remind us that we won’t get a heads-up before He returns. Are you living like someone who’s prepared to meet Him today?

Wisdom doesn’t shout like the world does, but it’s always calling. Following Jesus means listening to His voice, living ready, and choosing truth—even when it’s hard.

Heavenly Father, help me to tune out the noise of the world and listen for Your voice. Give me a heart that loves wisdom and a life that reflects Your truth. Help me be ready for whatever You call me to, today and every day. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

JANUARY 27 - Unshaken in the Storm

Have you ever felt like the world is falling apart around you? Maybe it's a chaotic day at school, stress at home, or just scrolling through the news and seeing nothing but bad stories. It can feel overwhelming, even scary. In Psalm 11, David talks about how people were telling him to run and hide because everything seemed broken. But instead of panicking, David says something powerful: “The Lord is on His throne.” No matter how shaky life gets, God is still steady.

And in Matthew 24, Jesus warns His followers that tough times will come—wars, lies, betrayal, and even hate—but He encourages them to endure. Why? Because those who stay faithful are not forgotten—they’re saved. That’s hope you can hold onto.

1. God is still in control: When the world feels crazy, do you remember that God is still on His throne, watching and caring for you?

2. Endurance isn’t easy—but it’s worth it: Jesus never promised us a perfect life, but He did promise His presence. What helps you keep going when things get tough?

3. Faith over fear: Are there areas in your life where you’re tempted to run away or give up instead of trusting God?

Even when the world feels like it’s falling apart, you don’t have to. God is on His throne, and if you stick with Him, He’ll get you through anything.

JANUARY 26 - Wisdom That Speaks Louder Than Words

Have you ever met someone who talks a big game but doesn’t actually live it out? Maybe they preach kindness but treat others poorly, or claim to be wise but make reckless choices. In Matthew 23, Jesus calls out the religious leaders for doing just that—sounding holy but missing the heart of God.

Contrast that with Proverbs 8, where wisdom is personified as a woman calling out, longing to be heard and followed. She isn’t quiet or hidden—she’s loud, clear, and available to anyone willing to listen. The difference? Wisdom isn’t about fancy words or religious performance. It’s about aligning your life with God’s truth.

1. What voice are you listening to? Wisdom in Proverbs 8 is calling out to us, but so are a million other voices—social media, peer pressure, insecurity. Are you making space to hear the voice of wisdom?

2. Talk vs. Walk: In Matthew 23, Jesus warns against people who say the right things but don’t live them out. Are you living what you believe? Do your actions match your faith?

3. Life or Regret: Proverbs says those who find wisdom “find life,” but those who ignore it hurt themselves. What choices are you making today that show you're choosing life and God’s favor?

Wisdom isn’t just about knowing the right things—it’s about living them. Jesus wants our hearts, not just our words. Listen to wisdom. Live it out.

JANUARY 25 - Guard Your Heart, Follow the King

Have you ever made a choice you knew wasn’t great but did it anyway because it looked good in the moment? Proverbs 7 paints a vivid picture of a young person getting pulled into temptation—not because they wanted to wreck their life, but because they weren’t paying attention to wisdom. Meanwhile, Psalm 110 and Matthew 22 remind us who truly sits on the throne: Jesus, the King with ultimate power and authority.

In a world full of distractions, temptations, and half-truths, God calls us to treasure His Word and recognize that Jesus is more than just a wise teacher—He’s the Lord over everything, including the battle for your heart.

1. Protect What Matters: Proverbs 7 warns against the dangers of ignoring God's commands. Are you making space in your life for God’s Word, or is it being drowned out by other voices?

2. Who’s on the Throne? Psalm 110 and Matthew 22 show Jesus as the one sitting at God’s right hand. Do you treat Him as Lord in your life, or more like a backup plan when things go wrong?

3. Know Before You Go: The person in Proverbs 7 didn’t fall into sin by accident—it was a slow slide. What steps can you take to walk in wisdom and stay alert to what’s really going on?

JANUARY 24 - Guardrails for Your Heart

Have you ever been at a skate park or driving down the road and noticed the safety rails or warning signs? They’re not there to ruin your fun—they’re there to protect you. In Proverbs 6, God gives us some serious warnings about temptation, especially sexual temptation, and urges us to value the wisdom of our parents and God’s commands.

And in Matthew 21, Jesus shares parables that show the danger of rejecting God’s authority. Both passages remind us that when we ignore God’s boundaries, we’re headed for a crash—but when we listen and obey, we stay safe and strong.

1. Who’s Leading Your Heart? Are you paying attention to the wisdom and instruction God has placed in your life—like Scripture, parents, mentors, and youth leaders?

2. Danger Ahead: Proverbs warns about being lured into temptation by things that look good but lead to destruction. What are some temptations in your world that seem harmless but could hurt you spiritually or emotionally?

3. Jesus Is the Cornerstone: In Matthew 21, Jesus is the stone that either becomes your foundation or your downfall. Are you building your life on Him, or resisting His direction?

JANUARY 23 - Watch What You’re Building

Ever played Jenga? You build a tower, piece by piece, carefully balancing each block. But one wrong move and it all comes crashing down. Life’s kind of like that. Every action, every word, every attitude is a block you add to your character.

In Proverbs 6, we’re warned about behaviors that tear down rather than build up—things God hates because they destroy community and trust. In Matthew 20, Jesus flips our idea of greatness: the best leaders aren’t those who get the spotlight, but those who humbly serve. That’s a tower worth building.

1. Check Your Blocks: What kind of “blocks” are you building with—pride, lies, anger… or kindness, truth, and humility? Proverbs 6 lists behaviors that God sees as harmful. Which ones do you notice in your own life or friend group?

JANUARY 22 - The Danger of the Wink and the Whisper

Have you ever known someone who seemed to always be stirring up trouble—but did it with a smile, a wink, or a smooth word? In Proverbs 6, we’re warned about that kind of person—the one who uses subtle actions and sneaky words to cause drama and division. It’s not just obvious wrongdoing that God sees; He also sees what’s going on in our hearts. Psalm 10 talks about people who think God’s not watching or doesn’t care. But the truth is, God sees everything.

Then in Matthew 19, Jesus has a conversation with a rich young man who seemed to have it all together—he followed the rules—but Jesus pointed out that following Him meant surrendering the heart, not just checking boxes. All three passages remind us that the condition of our hearts—and the choices that flow from it—matter deeply to God.

1. What’s your heart saying? It’s easy to say or do the “right” things on the outside, but what’s really going on in your thoughts and intentions?

2. Are you living like God sees? Psalm 10 shows us how easy it is to think, “No one’s watching.” But God is always present. How would your choices change if you lived every moment knowing He sees and loves you?

3. Following or Faking? The rich young man in Matthew 19 thought he was doing everything right, but Jesus challenged him to go deeper. What’s one thing you might be holding back from God?

God cares more about our hearts than our appearances. Don’t just look good—be good by staying honest, humble, and fully committed to following Jesus.
