Promise-Memory Verse
“Children, be obedient to your parents in all things, for this is well- pleasing to the Lord.” Colossians 3:20
Alison learned from the eye doctor that she needed glasses. She chose a sparkly purple pair. Her mom told her never to put them in her back pack when she wasn’t wearing them, or they would break.
One week later, Alison’s friend Khloe invited her over for a sleep over. They made orange glitter slime, watched a movie, baked brownies, painted their toe nails with silver-shimmer polish, and giggled a lot.
The next day, when Alison’s step dad came to the door to pick her up, she stuffed her things into her book bag and got into the car. On their way home, their dog Patton jumped on top of
Alison’s bag and stuck his head out the window.
When they got home, Alison looked inside of her book bag for her orange slime. Instead she found her new glasses broken in half. She was mad at her dog, even though it wasn’t his fault. Alison was wrong because she disobeyed her mom by putting her glasses in her bag.
She needed to rebound, which is to tell God the Father privately that she disobeyed her mom.
Alison’s mom told her that she also had to be punished, and so she wasn’t allowed to go to her cousin’s swim party.
God wants parents to discipline their kids when they make mistakes so they will grow up to be responsible and happy adults.
Genesis 3:1-24 Time period: the Age of the Gentiles We have been studying how God created Adam and the woman and every living thing. People
didn’t start out as monkeys, and the earth didn’t explode into existence. God always tells us the truth, He is veracity. His truth is written in the Bible.
Adam and the woman were happy living in the Garden of Eden where there wasn’t any rain, lightning, thunderstorms or snow. Adam kept busy naming all of the animals and the woman was his helper. God made only one rule, which was not to eat from the “Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil.”
Last week, we learned that Satan, who is the father of all lies and very evil, got inside of a serpent and tricked the woman into eating the fruit from the “Tree of
Knowledge of Good and Evil.” He lied, making the woman think eating the fruit
would make her as smart as God.
When Adam and the woman ate the forbidden fruit, they suddenly knew they were wrong. They lost their human spirits and now they had old sin natures. They were called the first sinners.
God came looking for them, but they were so ashamed that they hid behind some trees. He found them right away, and asked them if they broke the rule.
Adam blamed the woman for giving him the fruit and the woman blamed the serpent for tricking her into eating the fruit. This was wrong. God never wants you to blame someone else when you do something bad.
God had to punish Adam and the woman. He made them leave the beautiful Garden of Eden. Adam now would have to give up his wonderful job of naming the animals and work hard to grow his own food. The woman would now have a lot of pain when she had kids.
Adam named the woman Eve, which means the mother of all living. Adam and Eve didn’t respect God’s authority when they disobeyed.
When you don’t obey or respect authority, you need tell God the Father privately what you did wrong and accept any punishment that is given out by the person in authority over you.
Since Adam and Eve were now sinners they had to believe that Jesus Christ would come to die on the cross and pay for their sins.
Today, you need to believe that Jesus Christ paid for your sins on the cross. Once you believe in Jesus Christ as your Savior, you get a human spirit and God lives inside of you forever and you will go to Heaven when you die.
