Chris dives into Philippians 4:5-7 in this episode of Bible-Mobile. Ultimately the focus is on strategies to overcome anxiety. God wants us to give Him our concerns and anxieties. However, God also wants us to give thanks. This is a very difficult. However, Paul points out a few things we can be thankful for even while experiencing anxiety. We can be thankful for the blessings we find in Christ, we can be thankful that the Lord is always near us, we can thank God knowing one day Jesus is coming back, and we can thank God for hearing our prayers. But as always, anxiety is a tricky topic. Sometimes we need to pursue professional help to overcome anxiety. There is no shame in seeking counseling or other medical treatments for anxiety! Add to show notes! And I would encourage anyone struggling with anxiety to do just that!
Scripture from NKJV
In this episode Chris looks at Philippians 4:4; the call to rejoice in the Lord, and encourages Christians to rejoice in all the blessings that are found in the Lord. Anxiety makes it difficult to rejoice but joy makes it harder to be anxious as well. God calls us to recognize our blessings and be overcome by joy and not anxiety. Obviously, anxiety is a touchy subject for many people, and sometimes people need professional and medical help to overcome anxiety. However, there are some practical tips from God's Word that can help as well. Rejoicing over all the blessings we have in Christ is certainly capable of helping us overcome anxiety.
All scripture is taken from the ESV version.
