Each month we are taking your questions about the sections of the bible we've been reading and spending some time talking through some possible answers. This month was the book of Genesis. You can jump through to the questions at these points:
1. (2:40) Is the flood story a literal account or a poem?
2. (11:00) Was it Hagar and Ishmael being sent away that led to Islam being brought into the world?
3. (19:16) Genesis 38 (Judah & Tamar) is in an odd place in the middle of the story of Joseph, why?
4. (29:53) How is the story of God testing Abraham by asking him to sacrifice Isaac compatible with Him being a loving God?
5. (42:45) How did people calculate the ages listed in the various genealogies, and what is the significance of peoples ages?
6. (42:45) Why does God change people's names, Abraham for instance?
7. (50:41) The tree of life (Genesis 2:9), do we hear about it again anywhere? If not why not? Does it refer to Jesus?
8. (56:26) Does "our image" in Genesis 1:26 refer to the Trinity?
9. (1:12:28) - Group discussion, comments and further questions
