Bible Q&A: Mark, Psalms & Isaiah (September 2023)

Listen Later

Each month we've been taking your questions about the sections of the bible that we've been reading and then spending some time talking through some possible answers. This month it was Mark, Psalms & Isaiah. You can jump through to the questions at these points:

(1:26) Mark 11:14 -

Why does Jesus curse the fig tree?
(16:55) Mark 16:7 -
Why is Peter mentioned separately? Was he no longer a disciple? Was this because he denied Jesus 3 times?
(22:18) Mark 16:16 -
Does this imply that baptism is necessary for salvation?
(35:16) Psalm 78:65 -
What does it mean that the Lord awoke as from sleep? Were all the verse before a dream? Did He actually sleep and then wake with a change of heart?
(42:19) Psalm 109:6-20 -
Is it right for David to be praying these awful things over these men? Should he not let God be their judge?
(52:36) Psalm 116:13 -
What does it mean to lift up the cup of salvation? Is this referring to the last supper?
(57:20) Isaiah 37:3 -
Why is not having strength to deliver a child the same as what the field commander has said?
(1:02:02) Isaiah 53:10 -
Surely the word "pleased" in this verse cannot possibly have the same meaning in the original Hebrew as it does for us today? Wouldn't that be horrendous?
(1:13:14) Isaiah 65:15 -

What does it mean that God tells the people they will leave their name to be used in curses? And why would God say this to them? Are we not told to love and forgive and not curse?

(1:20:30) Group discussion around anger and forgiveness
