In this lesson we continue our discipleship course.

This sermon examines the doctrinal obligations and privileges of church membership, grounding the discussion in the 1689 Baptist Confession of Faith and the narrative of Acts 2. It argues that joining a local church is a moral duty for all believers, evidenced by the early church's commitment to apostolic doctrine, fellowship, and mutual care. The teaching highlights that membership entails specific benefits, such as elder oversight and the administration of sacraments, but also subjects members to the church's government and discipline. The preacher emphasizes that this accountability is a blessing rather than a burden, as it provides a mechanism for correction and restoration. Finally, the sermon addresses the practical challenge of personal offense within the church, urging believers to persevere and wait upon Christ rather than abandoning their covenant community when conflicts arise.
