Continuing a study through the dispensations, the preacher turns to the conscience as light God dispensed to man after the fall in Genesis 3. He traces the conscience through Romans 2, Titus 1, and 1 Timothy 4, showing that every person has an inward witness to right and wrong, that excusing sin defiles and sears it, and that a culture-shaped morality cannot define good and evil. He argues from Hebrews 9 and 10, Romans 12, and Titus 3 that the blood of Christ purges and renews the conscience at salvation. He closes from Acts 24:16 with the call to exercise a conscience void of offense, and to repent and trust Christ where that conscience has been quieted.
