Making friends and developing community isn't as easy as it sounds. We expect church to provide that sense of community, but ... it isn't always the case. Is there something wrong with the church? Or something wrong with us? Or maybe we just need a different approach.

There is so much wedding language surrounding the return of Christ to this earth. When we read the scripture regarding Christ's second coming we can't help but fall in love with a God who is anxiously waiting to return for His bride.

How do we know if we are understanding the Bible correctly? There are so many ways of looking at things in scripture, which way is right? Which way is wrong? Or ... are there multiple ways of looking at what has been written? Or ... is that just a copout?

The single most important message that propelled the New Testament Church forward was this, "He is risen indeed." They could not unsee what they had seen. It's still the most powerful message that can be preached.

We are supposed to grow in our faith, but what does that mean and what does it look like? What happens if we change the way we view things? Are we losing faith when we no longer believe what we were once taught? Or ... are we actually growing in our faith, while at the same time we feel like we are losing our faith?

Too much of our religious experience is driven by fear. Why do we fear a God who proclaims His love for us? Is there a way to live without fear?

It's become a thing, "I'm spiritual but not religious." It even has its own Wikipedia page. What does it mean in practice? Can you really do that? How do you live that way?

We talk about conversion like it is an easy process and all you have to do is accept Jesus. But the reality is that everybody's conversion experience is different ... and that's where the problem begins.

There are a few times where it is recorded that Jesus wept. What broke Jesus' heart? Does the same thing break our hearts? Would we live our lives differently if our hearts broke over the same things that broke Jesus' heart? In this sermon we discover that Jesus' entry in to Jerusalem is really a metaphor for his desire to come into our lives ... and maybe that is why he wept.

We like to be in control. In fact, it isn't good to be out of control... but then sometimes we try to control too much. Let's explore this issue of control together and find out the best way to control ourselves and whatever we can.
