The Gospel writers often described the Pharisees, scribes and lawyers as "challenging" Jesus, usually with regard to some point of Jewish law. Out of those encounters, Jesus often taught an expanded understanding of Jewish law—the spirit of the law—that has become the "new law" for Christianity. But there were other encounters, often with women, that seemed to call forth from Jesus something that he might not have planned on revealing or possibly known until the encounter took place. In this segment, Karen and E.J. will explore several encounters with women, some known, some nameless, that seemed to elicit a reaction from Jesus and give us a deeper, more revealing teaching. Join us as we explore these encounters and apply them to our own lives.
