Join us on this episode of Biblical Talks with Michael Tolliver as we explore 1 Peter 1:4-7 and uncover the extraordinary promise of an eternal inheritance, safeguarded by God's unwavering power. Michael passionately speaks about how this divine inheritance stands as a reward for our faithfulness and allegiance to King Jesus and His everlasting kingdom, contrasting the imperishable nature of heavenly treasures with the fleeting value of worldly possessions.
Drawing parallels to the experiences of early Jewish Christians, Michael brings to life the profound hope and joy we can find in our unassailable spiritual inheritance. Through poetic reflections and deep scriptural insights, he reassures us of the living hope we have in Christ—a hope that promises eternal joy and security. Join us for a session filled with encouragement and inspiration, as we are reminded of the unshakeable assurance we have in our divine heritage, an inheritance that no trial or persecution can ever diminish
Let’s continue our gleaning into 1 Peter, verses 4-7
to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, who by God's power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. In this, you rejoice, though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved by various trials, so that the tested genuineness of your faith—more precious than gold that perishes though it is tested by fire—may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ.
Peter said an inheritance is incorruptible,” meaning that it is nondestructible. It cannot be damaged in any way—no rust, no moth, no germ, no fire can touch it. This inheritance includes our rewards for faithfulness and allegiance to our King, Jesus, and his kingdom, ( not to a political party, not to domination, and man-made organization). King Jesus and his kingdom are everlasting.
Undefiled” indicates that it is not tainted or dishonored by anything. We will not get this inheritance illegally.
Not only is it undefiled, it'sunfading Listen, we won't inherit it and then find it to be worthless, like some stock that once had value and then became completely valueless.
Have you ever made a hotel reservation and when you arrive at the hotel, there is no record of it? The front desk has no record of you ever making a reservation. This will never happen with this reservation, because, God made the reservation before the foundation of the world, and it is kept in heaven.
The word kept is a verb in the past tense, which means, have or retain possession of, guard; or protect.
Listen, God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit are taking care of it for us. We couldn't have it in a better safety deposit box than that! No one can take it, no one can lose it, or hack it out of God’s heavenly computer server.
I heard of a man who was willed a beautiful Southern home in Louisiana, but the very night the original owner died, the house caught on fire and burned down—and there was no insurance. The wonderful home that he was to inherit went up in smoke.
My friend, as believers, we have an incorruptible inheritance. This is a wonderful thing to look forward to!
It will help us to appreciate this verse if we remember that Peter had in mi
