Buy truth, and do not sell it; buy wisdom, instruction, and understanding. 

Beloved, what is truth? Webster's dictionary says truth is the conformed to the fact or reality; the Oxford dictionary says truth is the quality or state of being true. Listen I love  Pastor Evans's definition of truth “ Truth is the absolute standard by which reality is measured” Amen. In other words, It is God’s view on every subject. No matter what the subject may be, from politics to abortion, from homosexuals to illegals crossing the border. Buy the truth, beloved.   Jesus said I am the truth, John 14:6. So the truth is what the WORD says it is. Matter of fact, absolute truth cannot be perceived by man apart from the revelation of God. In other words, the “natural man” cannot receive the things of the Spirit of God, neither can he know them, for they are spiritually discerned (1 Cor. 2:11,14). In other words, it’s the work of the Holy Spirit to enlighten the human mind to the understanding of what is truth. so when the Holy Spirit is enlightening our minds and hearts through the teaching and preaching of the word of God believe him. Believe him. 

Beloved Buy the truth, and do not sell it but please understand that we cannot obtain truth without cost, and when we have brought it  (know this)  the flesh, world, and the devil will entice you to sell it. 

We must buy the truth wherever it leads us. (2) You must crucify your opinions and Ideology, and how you feel about any issue that goes against the trust. (3) You must be dependent and act like a newborn child in your intellect, ( check what you think you know at the door, and run it through the Word of God).

How do I buy the truth? You buy truth by faith, Faith is acting like God is telling the truth, and faith always involves your feet. It is an action of your life, faith is not merely words from your lips. 

  By faith Noah, being warned by God concerning events as yet unseen, in reverent fear built an ark for the saving of his household. By this he condemned the world and became an heir of the righteousness that comes by faith. 

By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to a place that he was to receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going. By faith he went to live in the land of promise, as in a foreign land, living in tents with Isaac and Jacob, heirs with him of the same promise.  For he was looking forward to the city that has foundations, whose designer and builder is God.

 By faith Sarah herself received power to conceive, even when she was past the age, since she considered him faithful who had promised. Therefore, from one man, and him as good as dead, were born offspring as many as the stars of heaven and as many as the countless grains of sand by the seashore.

  By faith Abraham, when he was tested, offered up Isaac, and he who had received the promises was in the act of offering up his only son,  of whom it was said, “Through Isaac shall your offspring be named.”

  He considered that God was able even to raise him from the dead, from which.

  By faith Isaac prayed future blessings on Jacob and Esau.  By faith Jacob, when dying, blessed each of the sons of Joseph, bowing in worship over the head of his staff.

  By faith Joseph, at the end of his life, made mention of the departure of the Israelites and gave directions concerning his bones.

  By faith Moses, when he was born, was hidden for three months by his parents, because they saw that the

Immanuel

Beloved of the Lord, God is at the center of his universe, it will never be about us, because we have been born into a broken sin curse world. Christmas is the celebration of God becoming a man. The Bible is very clear about this. 

 John 1; In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.  He was in the beginning with God. And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth. 

Philippians 2:5-8 Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men.  And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. 

Hebrews 2:14:  Since therefore the children share in flesh and blood, he himself likewise partook of the same things, that through death he might destroy the one who has the power of death, that is, the devil, and deliver all those who through fear of death were subject to lifelong slavery. 

Beloved God with us, Mat_1:23; Isa_7:14, because Jesus was God united with man, and showed that God was dwelling with men. This is what theologians call the hypostatic Union, two natures (divine and human) in one person (Jesus Christ) unmixed forever. Listen Jesus became no less God when He became human. Mary did not give birth to both God and a man. Jesus was not 50% percent human and 50 percent God, no, no, Mary gave birth to the God-man ---God with us, Immanuel. In Colossians 1:19 For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell. 

The fullness is the pleroma. In Philippians, it was the kenosis. That is, it emphasized that Christ emptied Himself and became a servant; He emptied Himself of the glory that He had with the Father. He didn't empty Himself of His deity—He was God when He came to this earth. The pleroma, the full fullness of God, dwells in Him.

When He was down here on this earth, the pleroma( the Godhead which dwells in Christ)  was at home in Jesus. He was 100 percent God—not 99.44 percent, but 100 percent. That little baby that was lying on the bosom of Mary over nineteen hundred years ago seemed so helpless, but He could have spoken this universe out of existence. He is Man of very man; He is God of very God. That is who He is... Immanuel. 

Listen the Bible often equates Jesus with God, reinforcing this relationship. Genesis 1:1 tells us that God created the World, and Colossians 1:16 tells us that all things were created by Christ Jesus. The God of Genesis 1:1 is also the God of Colossians 1:16. Jesus Christ is distinct from God the Father in His person, yet equal with the Father in His deity. God the Son took on human flesh, being born as a baby in a world of darkness. He came for the purpose of making the invisible God visible to us in history.  Jesus’ birth was like no other because He is like no other. Jesus, the Son of God came to earth so that we may know God and experience Him more fully. That was His birth. It was truly like no other, why, because Jesus is like no other. 

Jesus reveals to us the heart and mind and nature of God. It is through Jesus that we get to know God. It is through Jesus that we come to discover the depth of His power. It is through Jesus that we understand the fullness of His love. Listen without Jesus we woul

Contemporary English Version. 

    and tell them to your children over and over again. Talk about them all the time, whether you're at home or walking along the road or going to bed at night, or getting up in the morning. 

A man used to talk on child education. He had been a professor for a long time and he talked about parenting when he was single. His speeches changed over the years. When he was single, he started off calling his talks the “Ten Commandments for Parenting”. After his first child, he had to change the title to the “Ten Hints for Parenting. After he second child it became the Ten Recommendations for Parenting. When he had his third child, he just  stopped talking.   

Beloved of the Lord, parenting today is hard. Parents are a child’s escort through life. We have, in our culture, around eighteen years to escort our children safely into their way, God has called them to.  Like a police escort that escorts specially chosen travelers through traffic. Parents are to escort their children through life, safely, during the time that we have responsibility for them.  Beloved our children and the family are under attack. If you don’t recognize that, you may be part of the problem. Listen to me please if you have children, you are responsible to make sure that the truth you are learning is being transmitted to them, listen God’s Word is to be the subject of every conversation, both inside and outside of the home, from the beginning of the day to end of the same day. Because if you don’t teach God’s Word to your family, there is someone else out there who has a word he would be glad to give them. 

     Satan has his own message, his own kingdom, and he has many real counselors who would be glad to teach your children for you. Some of these counselors are on the streets, some are in the school system, they are online, they are on many social media platforms, some may even attend your church. Beloved! No one and I mean No one should have more influence over your children then you do. No one should have more effect on the character, development, or behavior of your child than you do. 

Therefore, we have to routinely teach our children – not occasionally. That means turning off the T.V, the computer, and the phone, put Facebook down, and use that time for teaching. Beloved you have to make time with your family to teach the Word, I hate to tell you this, but government nor the church has been charged to do what parents are supposed to do. Let me say this, parents please stop trying to be your child friend, your child doesn’t need more friends they need parents.  If you give your kids God’s Word early in life, the Holy Spirit has something to hook on to and bring them back should they take a bad turn. 

Let us look into Proverbs 22:6 for a minute. Proverbs 22:6 says “Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old, he will not depart from it”.  That does not mean to train him the way you want him to go. It means that God has a way for him to go, and you are to cooperate with God. That means, parent, that you need to stay close to Him!

Beloved there is only one right way, God's way, the way of life. That way is specified in great detail in Proverbs. Since it is clear that early training secures lifelong habits, parents must insist on this way, teaching God's Word and enforcing it with loving discipline throughout the child's childhood.

John 14:15 If you love me, you will keep my commandments. 

Beloved of the Lord. Jesus promises every, believer; comfort from five supernatural blessings that the world does not enjoy: (1) a supernatural Helper (Joh_14:16-17); (2) a supernatural life (Joh_14:18-19); (3) a supernatural union (Joh_14:20-25), (4) a supernatural Teacher (Joh_14:26); and (5) a supernatural peace (Joh_14:27-31). Now the key to all of this is Joh_14:15 which tells that these supernatural promises are for those who love Jesus Christ. Please notices that Jesus said “If you love me, He tells us very plainly what we should do, but he never takes means to make us do it. The IF presupposes that we will keep Jesus' words because we love him. The IF also presupposes that if we don’t keep his words, we don’t love him. (Chew on that for a Minute) Listen we obey Jesus out of a oneness of spirit and out of a relationship. In this text, Jesus is talking about discipleship, because he started John 14: 15 with the word IF. If any man will be my disciple, let him deny himself, in order words let every disciple give up his right to himself to me. Beloved the Lord does not give us rules, He makes His standard very clear and if our relationship with Jesus is that of love, we will do what He says without any hesitation.  If we hesitate, it is because we love someone or something else more than Jesus, and whatever it is, it's in war with Jesus for our love. 

There is a story of a woman who had a husband who kept a list. This list contained twenty-five things he wanted her to do, to be a good wife to him. Every day he took out the list and checked off the things that she completed. Cooking-check! Cleaning-check! Care of the kids-check! At the end of the day, he would let her know how she scored – twenty-three out of twenty-five. Twenty-one out of twenty and so on and so on. This woman was unhappy. She was unhappy because she didn’t get married to be caged to a checklist.  the things, she did as a wife  were very important and they were necessary. But she had higher hopes for her marriage relationship.  After many years, the husband died. The woman felt a weight lifted from her shoulders because she had been for years she had been working for a list. She had been doing her duty and disliking every minute of it, even though the duties themselves were not bad.   Two years later, this same woman fell in love with a new guy-a guy who had no lists. He told this woman that all he wanted to do was to love her. He wanted her (to wake up in the morning) knowing that he loved her. In the middle of the day, he wanted to be able to (call and remind her) that he loved her. At night, before they went to bed, he wanted to reassure her that he loved her. He wanted his love for her to be her every wakening thought of her day. He wanted her to know his love, not his lists. 

One day she was cleaning the house and saw a piece of paper on a desk. It was the list from the first husband. She began to giggle when she realized that everything written down, all twenty-five duties, were happening naturally in her new marriage. Everything she had hated doing out of the requirement by the first husband, she was doing for the second husband-and loving it! All the second husband had was love. It brought joy to this woman, to her home, and to all that she did for it. She was overpowered by love.

Beloved I was reading a daily gospel devotional by Paul Tripp, and I just want to share it, with you, because it really blessed me. Tripp said in his devotional: 

  We all do it, probably every day. We have no idea that we’re doing it, yet it has a huge impact on the way we view ourselves and the way we respond to others. It is one of the reasons there is so much relational trouble even in the house of God. What is this thing that we all tend to do that causes so much harm? Beloved WE ALL FORGET. In the hustle and bustle and selfishness of our lives, we sadly forget how much our lives have been blessed by and completely redirected by mercy. 

The fact that God has blessed us with his favor when we deserved his wrath fades from our memories like a song whose lyrics, we once knew but now cannot recall. The reality that on every morning brand -new mercy greets us is not the thing that grips our minds as we prepare for our day. When we lay our tired heads down at the end of the day for much-needed sleep, we often fail to look back on the many mercies that dripped from God’s hands onto our little lives. 

 We don’t often take time to sit and meditate on what our lives would have been like if the mercy of the Redeemer had not been written into our personal stories. Sadly, we all tend to be way too mercy-forgetful. Mercy-forgetfulness is dangerous, because it shapes the way you think about yourself and others. When you remember mercy, you also remember that you simply did nothing whatsoever to earn that with which mercy has blessed you. When you remember mercy, you are humble, thankful, and tender. When you remember mercy, complaining gives way to gratitude and self-focused desire gives way to worship. 

But when you forget mercy, you proudly tell yourself that what you have is what you’ve achieved. When you forget mercy, you name yourself as righteous and praiseworthy, and you live an entitled and demanding life. When you forget mercy and think you are praiseworthy, you find it all too easy not to extend mercy to others. Proudly, you think that you’re receiving what you deserve and that they are too. 

Your proud heart is not tender, so it is not easily moved by the sad problem of others. You forget that you are more like than more than you realize; failing to acknowledge that neither of you stands before God as deserving. Humility is the soil in which mercy for other grows. Gratitude for mercy given to you, is what motivates mercy stretched. Paul says “Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you (Eph4:32). Beloved remember that Mercy means I am so deeply grateful for the forgiveness I have received that I cannot help offering you the same. Have a blessed day.

Beloved of the Lord Pam Thum sings a song called life is hard (God is good). Listen to these words, you turn the key. Then close the door behind you, drop your bags on the floor, you reach for the light but there's darkness deep inside. And you can't take it anymore. Cause sometimes living takes the life out of you
 And sometimes living is all you can do. Life is hard, the world is cold
 We're barely young and then we're old. But every falling tear is always understood
 Life is hard, but God is good. 

This man Jeremiah has seen and gone through great trouble. His health is wrecked because he is concerned for Jerusalem. I’m a target for God’s arrows.

Listen to Jeremiah's expression of sorrow and grief, which begins from the depth of depression and despair. He begins with hopelessness, and hopelessness is always the connection behind depression. Depression is the loss of hope, no way out, and nothing I can do. And hopelessness always leads to depression. Listen to Jeremiah's hopelessness and anguish from verses 1 through 20 of Chapter 3 in the CEV version “I have suffered much because God was angry.  He chased me into a dark place, where no light could enter.  I am the only one he punishes over and over again, without ever stopping. God caused my skin and flesh to waste away, and he crushed my bones. He attacked and surrounded me with hardships and trouble; he forced me to sit in the dark like someone long dead.  God built a fence around me that I cannot climb over, and he chained me down.  Even when I shouted and prayed for help, he refused to listen.  God put big rocks in my way and made me follow a crooked path.  God was like a bear or a lion waiting in ambush for me; he dragged me from the road, then ripped me to pieces.  God took careful aim and shot his arrows, straight through my heart.  I am a joke to everyone— no one ever stops making fun of me. God has turned my life bitter.  He made me eat gravel and polished me in the dirt.  I cannot find peace or remember happiness.  I tell myself, "I am finished! I can't count on the LORD to do anything for me.  Just thinking of my troubles and my isolated wandering makes me despondent.  That's all I ever think about, and I am depressed. 

Boy, that is about as low as you can get. Have you ever felt that way? God, where are you? God isn’t ready to help me, now in the midst of this place of total despair, he said BUT, This I recall to my mind, and therefore I have hope. He changed his whole mindset because of the conjunction but. You remember the school House Rock cartoon of Saturday morning, Conjunction, junction what’s your function, hooking up words and phrases and clauses. God is getting ready to hook up Jeremiah's mind to God’s faithfulness. The Bible speaks about our renewing our minds. 

   The Bible speaks about our bringing every thought into captivity unto the obedience of Jesus Christ. And we can think ourselves into a miserable mood. We can think ourselves into despair and hopelessness. You can think yourself into the grave. Or, by setting your mind upon the Lord, renewing your mind in Him, you can come into a whole new state of consciousness. No longer one of total despair and hopelessness, but one now of victory and hope.

And that’s what Jeremiah did. He changed the thought patterns from, "Oh, woe is me. Oh, this is the end. Oh, there is no hope. Oh, I’ve had it. Oh, there’s no one to help. Oh, I’m boxed in," to but this I call to mind; therefore, I have hope.

Beloved of the Lord, in John 1:14 please notice three statements there. 

And the Word was made flesh,”

“And the Word dwelt among us,”

“He was full of grace and truth.”

The first statement, says that the Word was made flesh. The Greek language allows us to put it more exactly and, I think, more precisely like this: “The Word was born flesh.” Turn this over in your mind for a moment. Here comes God out of eternity, already the Ancient of Days; but He also came to Bethlehem, as a baby thing that made a woman cry. And notice that John's Gospel does not even mention His birth in Bethlehem. Do you know why? He is talking about One that is too big for Bethlehem. Out of eternity, the Word became flesh. The Word became flesh, is a term theologians call the hypostatic union. Hypostatic union is the perfect union of Christ’s divine and human natures, both in their fullness without any confusion. Jesus was no less God when he became a perfect man. He was fully human but without sin. Jesus is the God-man, united forever in heaven. He is unique-God in the flesh 

This reality is surely the most profound ever, because it indicates that the Infinite became finite; the Eternal adapted to time; the Invisible became visible; the supernatural One reduced Himself to the natural. Now in the incarnation, however, the Word did not cease to be God but became God in human flesh, i.e., undiminished deity in human form as a man. There is nobody like Jesus. 

Not only was the Word made flesh, the second statement in verse 14 says 

The Word dwelt among us. Dwelt” is from a Greek word which means “He pitched His tent among us.” Our human bodies are merely little tents in which we live. The apostle Paul used the same pictures: “…  in 2 Cor. 5:1: we know that if … this tabernacle were dissolved …” (2Co_5:1). This house in which we live is a tabernacle, a tent, that can be blown over in a night; it can be snuffed out in an instant. Because you and I live in these little tents, the God of eternity took upon Himself a human body and thus pitched His tent down here among us. Such is the second incredible statement. In the NT, God chose to dwell among His people in a far more personal way by becoming a man

Notice the third statement He was full of grace and truth. John perhaps had Exodus 33; 34 in mind. On that occasion, Moses requested that God display His glory to him. The Lord replied to Moses that He would make all His "goodness" pass before him, and then as He passed by, God declared "The Lord … merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abounding in goodness and truth" (Exo_33:18-19; Exo_34:5-7). These attributes of God's glory emphasize the goodness of God's character, especially in relationship to salvation. Jesus, as Yahweh of the OT (Joh_8:58; "I AM"), displayed the same divine attributes when He tabernacled among men in the NT era (Col_2:9).

Beloved is the bottom line. Brother Tripp put it this way. Jesus is life. As Creator, he gave physical life to our bodies. As eternal God, he is the source of the life of everything that lives. But there is more, beloved. As Savior, he is the One who alone gives spiritual life to our dead hearts. John 1:13 says that we are not born again by human blood, we are born again by human flesh, or by human will, but by God. What’s my point today? Beloved of the Lord do not put the burden of life on the person closest to you, it will only crush that person and disappoint you (in the end). Listen people make good friends and love

This Psalm deals with the age-old question “Why do the ungodly prosper while the godly painfully struggle through life?”   Let’s get real today, the prosperity of sinners, and the distresses of good men sometimes makes us mad. You follow God, and nothing seems to be working out for you, your co-work don’t do their job, as a matter of fact, they complain and they get a promotion. 

Your neighbor brags to you about how he cheats on his taxes each year. His home is full of the best furniture and appliances. He has two new cars and all the latest toys. They vacationed in Hawaii last year. You are honest and pay your taxes. You give faithfully to the church. If you would try to give the furniture in your home Goodwill would reject it. Your one clunker of a car has over 100,000 miles. And the closest thing to vacation that you could afford last year was to take your family downtown to the park. Irritating, isn’t it?

You’re single and trying to follow the Lord. You will only date Christian guys. Your last date was ten years ago. The girl next door has no moral standards and she’s got good-looking guys lining up to see her. Irritating, isn’t it?

You have been preaching and teaching the Word of God, and no one is listening, but the preacher down the street, on the radio, and T.V, isn’t talking about nothing, but everyone is running to hear him.

 Sometimes it seems like it doesn’t pay to be good! When the wicked prosper and the good suffer, you can be tempted to doubt God, especially if you are doing with is right! If you’re not careful to cultivate the right perspective, you can be tempted to say “Forget it!” and join the evildoers. The success of evildoers troubled David a great deal. It is a subject that is dealt with in Psalm 73 and one that is presented elsewhere in the Old Testament. Why do the godless people seem to prosper?

David concluded, as Asaph did in Psalm 73, that someday the wicked would be cut down just like the grass. Many years ago, when I was working for the Alabama Department of Correction, someone told me, they could not understand why God would permit Hitler to do the things he did. Why he almost won World War II. Why would God permit a man like Mussolini to do some of the things he did? But where are these men today? Just give God time. He will deal with the wicked. It is the end of the ungodly that we need to consider.

The wealth of sinners, and the distresses of good men, have been in all ages a stumbling block even to the faithful. The prophet Jeremiah puts this down as an unquestionable conclusion, that God is righteous; In Jeremiah 12: 1 Jeremiah says Righteous are you, O LORD when I complain to you; yet I would plead my case before you. Why does the way of the wicked prosper? Why do all who are deceitful prosper? 

   If it disturbs you when you look around today and see the wicked prospering, there are several things you can do to solve your problem. One is to remember not to fret over evildoers, for they are temporary, and will fade quickly like grass under the hot sun (verses 1-2) Here-today-gone today, beloved people are unmoved to the briefness of life and the reality of God’s wrath. People pass away like plants under the hot breath of an east wind, James used this illustration to teach the folly of trusting in material wealth (James 1:10-11). Peter used it to illustrate the passing nature of everything related to humanity (1Peter 1:24-25).

The Righteousness of God is through Faith
Romans 3: 27-31 Then what becomes of our boasting? It is excluded. By what kind of law? By a law of works? No, but by the law of faith.  For we hold that one is justified by faith apart from works of the law.  Or is God the God of Jews only? Is he not the God of Gentiles also? Yes, of Gentiles also, since God is one—who will justify the circumcised by faith and the uncircumcised through faith. Do we then overthrow the law by this faith? By no means! On the contrary, we uphold the law. 

Beloved of the Lord since no one can be (right) or righteous before God by keeping the law, Paul now explains that right standing with God comes through faith in the atoning work of Jesus on the cross. In verses 21 -26, God’s saving righteousness has been manifested now in the death of Jesus Christ so that God’s justice and love are reconciled on the cross. So, the question Paul asked in verse 27 is then what becomes of our boasting? Listen if the way to God is the way of faith and of receiving, that faith. Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are you saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God, then all boasting in human achievement is gone. There was a certain kind of Judaism that kept a kind of profit and loss account with God. There was a certain kind of Jew who strictly kept every detail of the ceremonial law, and for every time he carried out one of the law’s little regulations, he made an entry on the credit side. He came to a frame of mind in which he somewhat held that God was in his debt. 
    Paul’s whole position was that every man is a sinner, that no man could ever have put himself back into a right relationship with God through his own efforts, that every man is God’s debtor, and that all grounds for self-righteousness and boasting in one’s achievement are forever gone. The Apostle Paul has demonstrated, from chapter 1 so clear and plain, the way of salvation to be only in Christ, and by Christ; now he returns back to his original subject, about the total inability of either Jew or Gentile, justifying themselves before God. 
Brother Tripp said “There is simply nothing you can do to gain God’s favor. You have to accept this and remember it. You will never be righteous enough for long enough to satisfy God’s holy requirements. Your thoughts will never be clean enough. Your desires will never be holy enough. Your words will never to spotless enough. Your choices and actions will never be God-glorifying enough. The bar is too high for you and me to ever reach. There are no exceptions. We all live under the same weight of the law and the same helplessness to sin. We’re all better rebels than submissive. We’re all more naturally proud than humble. We’re all more given to idolatry than the worship of God. We do better at making war with our neighbors than loving them. We all find envy more natural than contentment. We’re all thieves in one way or another. We all covet what others have. We more naturally bend the truth than protect it. We condemn with our words rather than giving grace. We lay down evidence every day that we will never independently reach God’s standard.
