We don't have to rely on our own intuition or "feelings." As believers, we have the Holy Spirit who is able to help us distinguish one thing from another: ie truth from falsehood, virtue from vice, etc. The Holy Spirit is the third person of the Godhead and is fully God in his unique role in the Trinity. With Jesus' ascent into Heaven, He made way for the entrance of the Holy Spirit on His believers at Pentecost. This allows us to have a new way to relate to God. How amazing is the new revealed covenant between God and His people! We believe that we can be guided and given discernment from the Holy Spirit as we seek God through His Word and through prayer. The Holy Spirit's voice will always line up with the Word of God. Our faith is grace through faith and so the Holy Spirit helps us lives out our daily sanctification.

As believers, we aren't perfect and perfection isn't our goal. But, we are made holy through Christ which means we are set apart to a higher calling to do good work for Christ. Holiness is one of the essential attributes of God—if not THE essential attribute. Holiness is not implied as a law or standard outside of God Himself, but all moral law and perfection have their basis in His very nature. He is the root and ground of them all. "Holiness is a harvest. It isn't a matter of personality, upbringing, or gifting; the difference is what has been planted into the soil of one's heart and soul." Tim Chester paraphrase.
