In order for a plant to grow, its seed needs to die. Death is required for the plant to grow and become what it was always meant to be. The same is true for Christians - our life in Christ required His death. 

But the story doesn’t end there, just like it didn’t end with Good Friday. He ROSE! He conquered death so we could come alive. But we aren’t given life in order to remain dormant seeds collected on a shelf. We need to die too - to our sins and our old selves - in order to experience true life in Christ.
