This week on the podcast I have two great guests.
First, Zach of the Unofficial Scorecard Podcast (https://theunofficialscorecardpodcast.libsyn.com/ep-72-eric-raskin) joins the show to preview Wednesday's fight between former titleholder Keith Thurman and Brock Jarvis (which I am not sure how to watch in the United States), and a flyweight unification bout between Kenshiro Teraji-Seigo Yuri Akui which is on ESPN+ early Thursday morning. That is followed by the best in the business, Sean Bastow of BTR Boxing Podcast Network
Sean helps us understand what we show now about WBA featherweight titleholder Nick Ball's fight against TJ Doheny on Saturday, which is broadcast on DAZN. Then, we talk about middleweight Austin "Ammo" Williams against Patrice Volnywhich occurs Saturday night in the U.S. on DAZN as well.
The Boxing TV Schedule for March 10-16
Wednesday
Keith Thurman-Brock Jarvis
How to watch: I am unsure. It is happening in Australia and hasn’t had much media attention in the United States
What You Should Know: Former welterweight titleholder will face Jarvis, a regional Australian fighter. All signs point to a Tim Tszyu fight if Thurman wins, which was set for last year, but Thurman had to withdraw, because of an injury. The fight is strange and marks Thurman’s return to the ring after a three-year break.
Thursday
Kenshiro Teraji-Seigo Yuri Akui
How to watch: 1am PST on ESPN+
What You Should Know: Teraji is one of the most exciting fighters in the sport – an all-action fighter at flyweight. The bout will be a unification of two titles as the WBC and WBA titles will be on the line.
Undercard:
WBO flyweight titleholder Anthony Olascuaga will face Hiroto Kyoguchi. Olascuga looks to be a potential breakout star in the division, he trains in L.A. with Rudy Hernandez and is a teammate of Junto Nakatani. WBO junior flyweight titleholder Shokichi Iwata will face Rene Santiago on this card as well.
Friday
Euri Cedeno-Ulices Tovar Rivera
How to watch: DAZN, unsure of start time
What You Should Know: Cedeno is a good Olympian, who is entering into a contender phase of his career.
Undercard: Lightweight Joseph Adorno, junior welterweight Bryce Mills and light heavyweight Atif Oberlton are notable fighters on the undercard.
Saturday
Nick Ball-TJ Doheny
How to watch: 11am pst, DAZN
What You Should Know: WBA featherweight titleholder Nick Ball will take on Doheny, a former Naoya Inoue opponent. Doheny is better than people think, but Ball is one of the best in the division.
Undercard:
Bantamweight Andrew Cain faces Charlie Edwards in an interesting British fight, and a junior featherweight bout between Brad Strand-Ionut Baluta could steal the show for those looking for a good fight.
Austin Williams-Patrice Volny
How to watch: 5pm pst, DAZN
What You Should Know: A 50-50 type fight as Williams is a great puncher and Volny is coming off a big win over Steven Butler in Canada.
Undercard:
Edgar Berlanga will face Jonathan Gonzalez-Ortiz in a super middleweight fight. It seems to be a fight to keep Berlanga busy. 2024 Olympic bronze medalist Omari Jones will turn pro on this card. Welterweight Jose Roman will rematch Jalil Hackett. They fought in December and Roman upset Hackett. Other notable names, welterweight Jamaine Ortiz will be in action and junior lightweight Carlos De Leon will fight early on.

01:01:50 news of the week
01:04:30 Rocky Hernandez
On Thursday, Golden Boy Promotions returns on DAZN at 6 PM PST with bantamweight "Gucci" Manny Flores taking on Jorge Leyva. Other interesting bouts, flyweight Enkhmandakh Kharkhuu will fight Mario Hernandez at bantamweight, junior middleweight Grant Flores returns, Federico Pacheco Jr makes his Golden Boy Promotions debut and Cayden Griffiths makes a quick return. This is a good developmental card with Flores, a local draw in a quality regional main event. On Friday, a women's welterweight unification bout will happen as Natasha Jonas faces Lauren Price with the WBC, WBA and IBF titles on the line. The fight is on Sky Sports – I am unsure if you can watch this fight live in the United States. The undercard features the return of WBC women's lightweight Caroline Dubois, a 50-50 fight between Olympic featherweight Karriss Artingstall vs. Raven Chapman, and 2024 middleweight Olympian Cindy Ngamba will be on the card. Another name to watch for Francesca Hennessy, who a lot of smart people believe has a promising future. On Friday, welterweight Harlem Eubank will fight Tyrone McKenna, and Michael Conlan returns on domestic card in the U.K.On Friday, MVP returns with a card in Canada on DAZN at 5:30 PM PST. The main event is lightweight Lucas Bahdi facing Ryan Racaza. The fight is Bahdi's first time facing a southpaw as a pro. Notable undercard bouts WBA junior flyweight titleholder Sara Bailey faces Cristina Navarro, and 2024 middleweight Olympian Tamm Thibeault vs. Sonya Dreiling. Thibeault and Ngamba fought in 2024 Olympics and that could be a fight in the future. On Friday, Albert Batyrgaziev will face Cruz Romero in Moscow. Why does this matter? Batyrgaziev holds the WBA interim junior lightweight which could make him a mandatory for Roach Jr. On Saturday, ProBox TV returns at 3:30 PM PST with a great main event per usual, featherweight Arnold Khegai, who is rated No.2 by the WBO will face Joet Gonzalez in a crossroads bout and a good L.A. fight. Welterweight Jesus Saracho will take on Luis Lopez in the co-feature.On Saturday, For Northern California fight fans, we have two shows this weekend as Uppercut Promotions will be putting on a card headlined by Blake McKernan vs. Shawn Miller, and in Stockton, California Lorenzo Powell will return to action. Neither card will have streaming options.
The Rant of the Week:
The role of a referee. A silent enforcer of the laws of boxing were on full display between Gervonta Davis’ knee not being called a knockdown to Paddy Donovan being disqualified for a punch after the bell against Lewis Crocker.
We start with an opening segment on the third man in the ring.
–
Davis-Roach Jr. – Prime Video
Gervonta Davis Majority Draw Lamont Roach Jr
Roach proved he is a capital G guy in the sport, moving up to lightweight and doing well against Davis. For Davis, a lot of questions now emerge.
Gary Antuanne Russell UD12 Jose Valenzuela
The 2016 U.S. Olympian Russell becomes a first-time titleholder winning the WBA junior welterweight from Valenzuela. Russell dominated the fight.
Alberto Puello SD12 Sandor Martin
Neither separated and Puello made the first defense of his WBC junior welterweight title. A competitive, but not all that exciting fight that many pundits felt Martin won.
Yoenis Tellez UD12 Julian Williams
Undefeated Cuban fighter Tellez put a lot of pressure on Williams getting the biggest win of his career over a former belt holder. Tellez trains with Ronnie Shields.
Johan Gonzalez SD10 Jarrett Hurd
Gonzalez outlasted former titleholder Hurd to win a close fight. Hurd retired after the bout.
–
Matias-Valenzuela – DAZN
Subriel Matias KO8 Gabriel Gollaz Valenzuela
Matias stopped Valenzuela and now is the No.1 contender for IBF junior welterweight titleholder Richardson Hitchins.
Alfredo Santiago TKO9 Javier Fortuna
Junior welterweight Santiago stops former junior lightweight titleholder Fortuna as Santiago is the WBO No.1 contender for the belt held by Teofimo Lopez.
Xolisani Ndongeni SD10 Nestor Bravo
Ndongeni gets the biggest win of his career upsetting the unbeaten Bravo in Puerto Rico.
–
Crocker-Donovan – DAZN
Lewis Crocker DQ8 Paddy Donovan
Crocker gets the DQ win after being stopped after the bell. The fight sadly is about the final sequence and not the great performance Donovan was having prior.
Craig Richards KO8 Padraig McCrory
Light heavyweight Richards keeps his spot as a top-15 guy in his division.
Kurt Walker MD10 Leon Woodstock
Featherweight Walker, a 2020 Irish Olympian was tested, but won a hard fight after an 11-month layoff.
Elif Nur Turhan TKO1 Shauna Browne
On YouTube prelims, Lightweight Turhan stopped Browne in 0:47 seconds. Browne had defeated Taylah Gentzen, an unbeaten fighter in January. Turhan is someone to watch for now.
Boxing coach John Pullman joins the show to preview #KhegaiGonzalez which will air on Saturday on ProBox TV and #JonasPrice.
