With the Love of God

When the Apostle Paul closes what is the magnum opus of Christian doctrine in the Bible, he breaks into song! It's only right that he do so. How should you tie off the greatest story ever told? After walking through the grand reasons behind God's rescuing love for rebel sinners, only a doxology will do.

So with a heart that is full and a mind on fire, Paul intones the words of Rom. 16:25-27: "Now to Him who has power to strengthen you according to my gospel and the proclamation of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the sacred secret kept silent for long ages, but now revealed and made known through the prophetic Scriptures, according to the command of the eternal God, to advance the obedience of faith among all nations - to the only wise God, through Jesus Christ - to Him be the glory forever! Amen."

Notice the in last phrases of the entire book of Romans, Paul emphasizes one attribute of God - His wisdom. Verse 27: "to the only wise God, through Jesus Christ, be glory forever! Amen." My aim in this message, as it has been in every message under the banner of SEEING GOD FOR WHO HE IS, is to open a window in your mind to the infinite expanses of God. And particularly this morning, my goal is to display before you the wisdom of God, so that you see it more clearly and admire Him more intensely and trust Him more firmly and therefore obey Him more consistently and joyfully. Spiritual Warfare: What is it?

Spiritual warfare exists in the unseen, supernatural dimension, where God is all-powerful and Satan is in revolt. As any Christian soon discovers, although spiritual warfare is unseen, it’s absolutely real. The Bible speaks of spiritual warfare in many places, but most directly in Ephesians 6:12, where Paul speaks of putting on the full armor of God:

“For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”

Spiritual Warfare: How Do We Go Into Battle as Christians?

Spiritual warfare is an image that many of us would rather reject. However, since the Bible uses terms of warfare, it’s best that we accept God’s imagery, so that we’re properly prepared for real battle. As Christians, we’re going through more than a mere “struggle” on earth – and its seems that war imagery captures this reality better than anything else. Since it’s warfare, God instructs Christians to use a very specific set of armor and weapons in Ephesians 6:14-18:

“Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God: Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit...”

God’s list of weaponry is rather unique – these are “weapons of peace.”

Spiritual warfare is the Christian concept of fighting against the work of preternatural evil forces. It is based on the biblical belief in evil spirits, or demons, that are said to intervene in human affairs in various ways.

Whether we try to bury or ignore it or not, the impact of a person’s trauma remains. The American Psychological Association wrote that “traumatic events challenge an individual’s view of the world as a just, safe and predictable place.” This shake-up to a person’s very worldview changes the course of their life. “The effects of unresolved trauma can be devastating,” wrote Dr. Peter Levine, author of Healing Trauma. “It can affect our habits and outlook on life, leading to addictions and poor decision-making. It can take a toll on our family life and interpersonal relationships. It can trigger real physical pain, symptoms, and disease. And it can lead to a range of self-destructive behaviors.”

Trusting God is vital during the spiritual attack.

Religion vs Relationship With God

What is the difference between Religion and Relationship with Jesus Christ ? Religion can be very different than having a Relationship with God through Jesus Christ. Religions are man made and are based on trying to get to God through rules and regulations and good works. All man made religions are based on people’s efforts at reaching God and being made right with Him through their own efforts.

But God’s plan for man’s salvation and for having a restored personal relationship with Him is told throughout the Bible. In the Old Testament and the New Testament alike. God’s plan is not based on people’s efforts and good works. His plan is based on His amazing Love and amazing Grace for us. God’s plan involved His precious Son Jesus paying the price and cost for our sins on the cross.

You need to put ALL of your trust and faith in Jesus and in what He did for us on the cross. Not in any religion or church or in your own efforts. If you put all of your trust and faith in Jesus, repent from your sins, and commit to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, then you can experience the joy of a right love RELATIONSHIP with God.
