Today on the podcast, I am talking all about transitioning into having the kids home for summer and working, I dive into what has made a huge difference in my life & business, and we do a tarot card reading at the end!

I also talked about the recent and hasty implementation of the “Self-Care Framework” by Health Canada that does stand to have a significant impact on your access to your natural health products and the practitioners you have come to depend upon for care. Bill C-47, once fully implemented, will lead to a tremendous price hike in our natural products as well as the closure of many of the smaller and local manufactures of these products leaving us with far fewer products available on the market. The new regulations will also demand greater packaging with less recyclability putting an added burden on our environment. The situation is rather dire and we need your help. Bill C-47 has been passed into law already. We are asking that our MP’s repeal sections 500 and 504. The core three issues here are that Health Canada believes natural health products impose similar risks as the chemical medicines industry and wishes to have the same costly regulatory framework. It is also important that taking away people’s natural health products will force more of the public into the already overcrowded medical system and that the public should have choice.  Hearing from as many people as possible will only strengthen our case. I know that getting involved in politics for many of you is terrifying and it is also the heart of vacation season, so I will do my best to keep it simple for you here with a few options:

1. Here is a link to the Save Our Supplements website. On this site you can get more information and send a prewritten letter directly to your MP. This is simple and quick but less effective at getting our point across as steps 2-4 below.
2. Here is a link to the National Health Products Protection Association. On this site you can sign a petition, learn more, and connect to their Action Kits where you can learn how to build a templated letter or a custom letter. Custom and heart-felt letters will always have the best impact on our leaders.
3. Call or visit your local Member of Parliament. Tell them in person how important your natural health products have been to you and that you do not want to lose them or pay astronomically high prices for them. If you cannot get to them in person, make a short video of yourself or your loved ones expressing how this matters and post to your social media tagging all the politicians you can to raise their awareness of this issue. Better yet, go in person and send a video. It was no accident that this Bill quietly slipped out during their summer recess. We need to let them all know that this is happening and that we are not going to sit back and take it.
4. SPREAD THE WORD! We really need the public to get behind these changes and stop this Bill-47 from coming to full fruition. It is the power of the people that are going to make this change.

Our time is quickly running out. This is only open for consultation until the end of July. It is important to get the word out as quickly as possible
