Interview with Swedish Hammond B3 player Andreas Hellkvist.

Wherin we discuss the great organists of Europe, past and present. There are so many - Olivier Messiaen, Klaus Wunderlich, Felix Kubin, ZZZ, Barbara Dennerlein, Stef Meeder, Cherry Wainer, Harry Merry, and on and on. Our cover model is Swedish B3 master ANDREAS HELLKVIST. Both Andreas Hellkvist and Felix Kubin are interviewed for this episode and both of those chunks of audio have been separated and released separately as "part 2" and "part 3" respectively.
We will also focus this episode on one of those things that organists do so well - "cover songs". During a certain era, you did not have a real hit until some obscure B3 player had released a cover version!

Part one of a special Easter episode, wherein we discuss any and all organ music related to the Gospel, including a brief history of the Hammond organ as it relates to the church and a 'Musical Trip Around the World" with the Sound Of Suddard. A lot of time is spent with some of the great - living and deceased - black gospel B3 players.
Musicians discussed: Stephanie McDee, Corey Henry, Lorin Whitney, Ralph Platt, Alfred Bolden, Timmy Thomas, Twinkie Clark, Terry Bradford, and more.
NOTE: you will hear occasional "dinging" noises throughout the episode. That is because this was recorded during a live stream via YouTube and we neglected to mute all APP alerts. Whoops....there are not many. Won't happen again.
Special Easter intereview with Stephanie McDee - Soul Queen from New Orleans, famous for her hits, "Call The Police" and "Monkey Talk". Stephanie and I go pretty deep here, discussing the intersection of gospel and secular music and the true meaning of "the Holy Ghost".
Wherein we discuss the darker, more mystical side of spirituality as it relates to organ music, and why this religious practice is so often coupled with a carnival-like music vibe...such as one might find in the great vacation state of FLORIDA!
Organists discussed in this episode: Anton Lavey, Lenny Dee, Timmy Thomas, George Fiala, Rosa Rio, Andreas Hellkvist, Sun Ra, Kara Jean (Darktown Strutters), George Moore ("Carnival Of Soules"), Jimmy Smith, and more!
End-of-show interview with Steven Intermill from the Buckland Museum of Witchcraft and Magic in Cleveland, Ohio.
The premiere B.O.M. episode, wherein we focus upon my very favorite organists, most of whom happen to wear heels! Organists discussed: Ethyl Smith, Cherry Wainer, Amina Claudine Meyers, Rhoda Scott, Alice Coltrane, and more...
Stay for the end to hear an in-depth interview with Courtney Lane, master of one of the strangest organ-instruments ever invented - The Italian "Accorgan".
I'm just figuring out all of the tech, so there are few volume drops (sorry Cherry Wainer!) and general funniness, but I think we did ok.
